That doesn't mean they have high margins, which I believe is what you stated.
Do you know how their margins compared to other industries over that timeframe?
I never said "Margins" I said "Profits"
and moreso, HOW they make a profit.
I'm not against capitalism or the american dream, I'm against turning record profits on the backs of sick americans.
For my $$, thats pulling some evil $#!t on your fellow americans. If there is a hell, Health insurance claims adjusters, and executives are on the Hell EXPRESS.

But where did I say that people should be able to get rich off the things you've mentioned? I think I stated quite clearly that insurance companies behave in ways that shouldn't be permitted -- did you miss that, or do you disagree or something?
I do view healthcare as a privilege, if "right" and "privilege" are the only 2 options. I don't think anything is a right if it requires other people to provide it -- like healthcare does.
On the other hand, if you want to argue that the government has a role in providing healthcare coverage, I think that can be a reasonable argument. I may not agree with you, but I think there's validity to the argument. That doesn't make healthcare a "right," though.
I'd be more than happy if they made us BOTH happy and did the simple thing:
So what to all the old and disabled folks do without Medicaid??
They should have worked to extend Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA to people without insurance. Use a system already in place and go from there. Let the doctors and insurance companies compete vs the 3 above. Allow people with insurance to buy in also ... to have a greater pool. The VA has room for expansion ... it should be better utilized.
