Default Rahm Emanuel Ordered Off Ballot (For Now)

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. They still have a round of appeals and injunctions, but this is certainly a setback for one of the real scumbags in politics.

Court orders Emanuel off mayoral ballot - chicagotribune.com

Rahm Emanuel should not appear on the Feb. 22 mayoral ballot because he does not meet the residency standard, according to a ruling issued by a state appellate court today.

Emanuel told a news conference he would appeal the decision to the Illinois Supreme Court and would ask for an injunction so his name will appear on the mayoral ballot.

Emanuel taking on the Daley monarchy? Good luck with that.

This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”

The people of Chicago can vote for, or elect whomever they want, but I have to admit that I do love this ruling. These politicians, or powerful individuals who use the seat of a local office for personal needs and gain, really need to be fitted with some cement shoes if you know what I mean. Be they Hillary Clinton and her NY seat, Mitt Romney and his using the MA governorship, or this snake oil salesman attempting to skirt the local rules for personal gain. The self serving political aspirations of these clowns, and those like them, should be wearing custom made shoes molded from a bag of Portland Type II.

I don't think there is a Daley in the race, hence Emanuel trying to run and pretty much being the favorite if it weren't for the inconvenient truth that he isn't qualified.

What has he done that makes him a "scumbag"?

I know he's disliked by the right (and some on the left), but I've never heard any substantive reasons why. (Not referring to him being an as*hole -- I've heard plenty that makes it sound like that's true. If that's basically what you meant, never mind.)

Well ... he could replace Lovie Smith if he wants to muscle in on another job.

It's the repeated stories of verbal abuse, threatening and bullying that has made him less than popular with many who had to deal with him in his prior roles..especially at the WH.

When the guy has a (D.) after his name, those reports just go in one ear and out the other with our local libs. They honestly believe their people can do no wrong.
