When Weld was gov. his parole board was made up of people who where hard core, they were victims of crimes such as murder and they let people go that committed violent crimes....... Very sad, he was so young, i remember he was working on a law degree.

Trooper Charbonnier was shot and killed as he approached a van he had stopped on the side of Route 3 near Kingston, Massachusetts. The suspect opened fire while still seated in the van. As Trooper Charbonnier retreated to the back of the van the suspect continued to fire, striking him below his vest.

Trooper Charbonnier was able to return fire and wounded the suspect in the arm and head. Trooper Charbonnier was flown to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds a short time later.

The suspect was a convicted killer on parole. The man was convicted of Trooper Charbonnier's murder and sentenced to life without parole.

It's the fact that it did happen. 5 of these 7 members have been added in the last couple of years. Look at this guys rap sheet. He attempted escapes a couple of times too. Suddenly in one years time this guy learning computers made him a unanimous choice for release? That's nuts. These people should be fired. If not, they should resign. While thousands haven't killed a cop, I bet a number have resorted to crime. Thing is, that's not really the point. The point is that the board voted to release a career criminal with a horrible rap sheet, who was sentenced to 3 life sentences, who then went out and killed a cop and father. That's points to some level of incompetence in my opinion. At the very least, the people who allowed it to happen, should never be allowed to be in a position where they could make a similar mistake again. Their judgement will forever be in question, so they should relieve themselves of their authority. Again, this is just how I feel about it.
