Doing what they were trained to do, very brave, and we are all proud of them.
The shame of it all is that they are performing a job, under orders, based on lies and a personal agenda of Mister Bush and his administration.
These men are performing admirably, and I have the utmost respect for each and every one of them.
I have no respect for the lying and devious bastards that sent them to Iraq, not for the purpose of defending our Constitution, but instead, for their own personal agendas.
Why are those that are firing at the Marines firing on them?
Would we be doing the same if our nation were occupied by an invading force of men?
Point is, our brave and honorable Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen are being used, and abused, for the sole purpose of personal agendas, and vendettas, of their leaders in the White House.
May each and every one of those in these videos, as well as all the others, return to their loved ones, not in body bags, not in pieces, but all in one piece, and alive.
Not one death of any American serving in Iraq is justified, not even one.
I can only continue to hope, and pray, that the evil bastards that sent them there, on the basis of lies and deception, are punished to the full extent of our laws, and of international low.
This will be recorded as one of the darkest chapters of American history.
GOD Bless every single one of these brave men.
You would be surprised at how the Marines feel. My new roomate was a SpecOps marine for recon division, and most of my friends are former military. They generally feel (I'd say 95% of them) that the war is necessary... that we are making progress... and that we need to finish the job... and every single one of them would go back if they could (and some ARE going back).
Whether the war is justified or not is a mute point right now - we can't just up and leave.

That first video was from 2004. A couple of things:
1) What brave MF'ing people.
2) Props to that camera man getting in there and filming up close and personal. He/she must have some serious cojonas.
3) Did you see that air strike? Ouch.
4) How the hell do they fight in an urban setting carrying all that gear. My bro was Airborne 501st, and he carried a 96 pound ruck I think, but he wasn't in urban combat. Those dudes must be in exceptional condition to carry all that while being shot at.
5) To think that Fallujah, where that first footage was shot, has little if any attacks on our troops. What a 180 over there this year. Hope it's sustainable.

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." Leo Tolstoy, 1897
Why not? How would you feel if we stayed, more Americans died, and in the end, nothing was gained. In fact, our presence there, the longer we stay might make things worse for all time.
How would you think then, and, IMO, that is EXACTLY what is going to happen?
Are you willing to allow more of them to be sacrificed for the lies that sent them there to begin with?
How do you explain it to all the families of the dead and maimed?
You would think that we, as Americans, would have learned from prior experience.
I did. Perhaps that is the problem, far too many of today's Americans making the decisions did not learn, or opted out of the war, and today, are making the same, wrong decisions, that were made that made them want to keep out of THAT war, and yet, today, they are willing to send Americans to die for their mis-deeds. What a pity, what a horrible pity, and even worse, is that far too many Americans are to blind to see the truth.
I would venture a guess that for each and every marine or soldier that feels as those that you mention, there are equally as many that believe the opposite...it all determines who is speaking and who is willing to tell the truth.
As you said it is your opinion as to what will happen by staying there.
Furthermore, your venturing to guess that for each marine or soldier that feels as the ones I know another believes the opposite and any that believes the opposite is telling the truth? How many soldiers have you talked to / how many come out and say that the war is lost... everything is all wrong... unjustified, etc? It may surprise you that MOST - I would venture to guess around 90% - of the armed forces personal believe that we must stay... at least, that's what the marines tell me.
But no, they are all liars.

Well, as you said - that footage was taken in 2004.
