If I've said it once, I'll say it a million times..

I have never kicked in the door to a trailer, that did not have a Big Screen TV in it.

People are poor, because they choose to be that way, if you make the right choices in life, expecially in this country, you can acheive anything.

Why is it, that Indian and Korean immigrants, can work as families, and within a few years, find themsleves deeply settled into the upper middle class, yet their are millions of people who are third and fourth generation welfare queens.

Here is a little free advice, pay attention in school, keep your legs closed (or keep it in your pants), get a job, work hard, and be loyal to your boss, and you will do well.

Why do you need a silvver spoon? If your parent's don't work so they have enough money, children in this country get free health care, free food, free housing, free school breakfast and lunch, free education...

So again, pay attention, keep you legs shut, and get a job, their are no excuses, only crutches

You people just dont understand anything...some people in this country have no guidance.....they dont know what programs are available to them, where to turn for help,or even that help is available....I know,I know, its their own fault, they must be stupid....Im not a liberal or conservative but the way you fools make everything sound so cut and dried simple.......I can easily see where posters like Patters,PC, and patsfaninva could say the hell with trying to have a conversation with you all.....but to their credit......they keep trying.......So again..you pay attention.....LIFE IS HARD.

Bullcrap. If there's one thing welfare mommas know, it's how to get as much from the system as they possibly can. You think the woman in that picture with the big screen HDTV complaining about how selfish everyone else is has ever passed up a single penny she had available to her from hard working taxpayers..?

Sounds like my first apartment out of college... just a crappy little 2-room setup in a house with a 62 inch projection TV in a room 2 sizes too small and the Bose sound system was actually more expensive than the TV...

Of course, I was paying all my rent and bills without gov't assistance... so I had a right to my little luxuries...

I've been as outspoken as anyone in here on the issue of welfare. My biggest beef with the system is not that it exists, but it's size, set-up, and gross inefficiency. To me, having a program that "helps those who cannot help themselves" is just. I don't think the majority of people would have a problem contributing to that. Where we go wrong is with a subsidy based system that simply redistributes wealth. Scott C, and I remember Pujo, have had experiences where government assistance helped them get out from a period of trouble, and back on their feet. I think situations like that are fine, and acceptable, but they are the exception, and not the rule. the disdain of many, like myself, is that welfare has become permanent, and generational. For the vast majority, it's simply a subsidy to do less. It doesn't encourage people to become self sufficient, and instead becomes a meal ticket to laziness. I see it everyday in my job. People don't work, work less, or work under the table, because they prefer to stay home and have their life paid for. The system needs a serious overhaul, and unless you're deemed disabled in some way, any assistance should have a time limit attached to it.

I can agree with that....Like I said, the system is far from perfect, thats what is strangling my state of Maine I live in...the social systems have gotten out of control along with every crooked politician in the state feeding at the taxpayer troughs....for our pop. we dont need as many legislators as we have....but whose gonna cut their own job out of the budget? The people need to put their feet down.....We also give drivers licenses to illegals here in the great state of Drain( I meant to spell it like that)then onto the social services they go.....But I cant afford a goddamned gallon of gas......the political system...as I see it needs to be trashed and started fresh.
