Well then we'll just have to respectfully disagree... and bear in mind that even that is something I wouldn't have a problem with if there was some magical way we could guarantee people using illegal drugs never did any harm to anyone but themselves. My primary reason for opposing illegal drugs is the harm on others people tend to create while under the influence.

Nevertheless, I am sure you can understand how my supporting keeping drugs illegal is in no way inconsistent with my desire to see the government stay out of peoples' lives and telling them how to live.

Soda and transfats are awesome. I believe they are both part of a proper diet for any growing boy.
that's not the point. What's next, hamburgers? French Fries? Beer? It's all about the principle T. Eventually at some point they will come for something you like, and when you've permitted such a precedent to be established, you'll be on the losing side of the fight. I don't drink soda (well I only drink diet), and I think it'd be a terrible law if passed.

Thank you..!!

As usual, RW takes what I have been trying to say and puts it into words far more clear and concise than my writing abilities allow me to do.

I mean, I sure as hell don't live in San Fran so this tax ain't going to affect me directly. So then why do I care..? Because I oppose the erosion of our personal rights and freedoms. Liberals get in and try to control other peoples' lives by starting small and working their way up from there.

Beer? Did you just write beer?

The government hasn't restricted beer? Are you sure?

I completely understand the principle, that's why I agreed with his point. It is you two who don't seem to see the inconsistency in your positions. The government has been restricting liberty for ages and now you are offended because they came after soda?

Welcome to the party, you're late.

Just because you're new to this group doesn't mean that I (or RW) haven't already spoken out against governmental intrusions into our lives many times in the past. I don't know why you would arrogantly presume this soda issue is the first time one of us has spoken on that issue.

But again your analogy falls quite short. Yes, the government does restrict things from people under 21. And that's why I would never complain if they took soda out of school or something like that. But we're not talking about that, are we..? We're talking about the government trying to regulate the behavior of adults.

The gun did it not the scumbag, the gun jumped out of the desk drawer and yelled lets go shoot sombody.

The driver didn't do it the SUV did it, the SUV said to the driver, "I'm taking over I want to kill that kid on the bike"

It's not the scumbags fault, it's the guns fault.

It's not the drivers fault, it's the SUV's fault.

Ban Guns
Ban SUV's
Close McDonalds

The American people love their Guns, SUV's and their Big Macs.
