Interesting that people are jumping to conclusions about an Israeli newspaper's story about a story in Austria, a nation whose laws I'm guessing pretty much nobody here knows a single thing about.
Here's something from a snopes.com messageboard: "...According to the Austrian MediaWatchBlog Kobuk the articles are indeed offline on the Kronenzeitung's webpage - obviously due to factual "errors".
The facts (according to the blog):
Herr Helmut G. has been moving his lawn, singing and yodeling during the Muslim neighbour's Friday prayer hours many times over the course of a year.
The neighbours did call the police several times, that intervened on their behalf without lasting success.
The police finally filed the case with the public prosecutor.
Public prosecution opened a case, but closed the file (without going to court) because Herr G. agreed to pay an amount of 800 Euro.
So, there is no court ruling, there is no "fine" in the legal sense, and there is nothing about the yodeling being offensive in itself. There is, however, a bad neighbour with no respect for (or rather: open animosity to) his neighbour's religion.
And the Kronenzeitung is indeed something like Austria's Daily Mail..."
I don't know whether this is correct (though the characterization of the newspaper as a lightly regarded tabloid was seconded by another poster there), but food for thought.
