Default More Obstructionism

Only 35% of Americans think that the Bush tax cuts should be extended for all. 49% think they should be extended only to families who make under $250,000.00 per year.

So why are Senate Republicans saying this? What happened to all those pre-election promises about doing "what the people want?"

Washington (CNN) -- Senate Republicans promised Wednesday to block legislative action on every issue being considered by the lame-duck Congress until the dispute over extending the Bush-era tax cuts is resolved and an extension of current government funding is approved.

All 42 Senate Republicans signed a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, vowing to prevent a vote on "any legislative item until the Senate has acted to fund the government and we have prevented the tax increase that is currently awaiting all American taxpayers."

The pubs ran saying they would extend the Bush tax cuts for all the poll was held the first Tues in Nov. Who cares what a CNN says people want.

They are doing what people elected them to do. They won 2/3 of the Senate seats decided that day.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

And in August the same question on taxes said that only 31% Bof Americans wanted the tax cuts extended to all and 51% of the people wanted the tax cuts extended only to people making under $250,000.00 - which was an even higher margin.

So, in August, when the politicians were running on the platform of doing what the "people wanted," did they not mean it?

Based on the tax extension polls the people elected them to extend the tax cuts only to people making over $250,000.00 a year. They won their 2/3 seats by promising to do the people's bidding. Now, less than 1 month later, they are not.

Now what?

In the poll that counts the people rejected the lame class warfare of the left. The pubbies are doing what the people elected them to do.

If Obozo and Reid & Pelosi bleived itn this they could have brought this and their bidget to a vote. They didn't because the cowards were afraid of the reaction of the voters.

UI is available currently for 2 years how much longer should it be extended for? Forever?

Better to juns Obozonomics and create jobs so people won't need unlimited unemploymnet benefits.

BTW Reid & Pelosi are still running congress, can't blame the pubs yet.

So you're now acknowledging that the claims that Obama et al were rejecting the will of the people, as (allegedly) evidenced by polls, were bs, given that he was "doing what the people elected him to do"?

I don't know why I continue to be amazed by the hypocrisy and double-speak of the Dem and Repub partisans...

The Bush tax cuts have been available for the last 10 years or so - and the ecomony has gone steadily downhill and the debt has climbed just as steadily. How long should they be extended for? Forever?

BTW, it's the GOP pledging to block all attempts to pass any bills until they get their way. I most certainly CAN blame them.
