Some people may be racist, other people are just straight up blind.

The racism term gets tossed around to loosely.

there are many people who are biased ... yes.

I think way too many biased people get labeled racists which is not true.

Racism is about hatred, intolerance, superiority, discrimination,

If i don't like rap music am I racist or am i biased against rap music?

If I don't like Sharia law am I racist or am I biased against sharia law?

I think Ann Coulter is biased ... but she has that right as do we all.

Racism is a form of bias. When you're biased based on race you're a racist.

I'm skeptical that many people get labeled "racist" for reasons such as those you've given examples of.

Of course she has the right to be biased. That doesn't mean it's right or that she shouldn't be called out on it when people think those biases are offensive.

(Is she racist? I don't know. haven't paid enough attention to what she says, and don't know how much of it is being an entertainer and knowing what her audience wants to hear.)

You expanded on what I said and i pretty much agree with what you added. Coulter does dance the fine line but what these people write ... is it really them or is it them playing to a base that earns them money.
Your entertainer angle is very important to the debate.

Earning money is no excuse or umbrella from being judged ... but I always wonder if these people are totally like this in the real world. I bet they're close but not always the same. I sometimes read them if it's through a link ... but to read any of these people everyday is more than I can stomach.

I used to respect Beck a bit because he at least admitted to being an entertainer. I'm not sure he does that anymore, now that his franchise is worth serious money. He comes across as stupid on his show, but he may not be stupid enough to jeopardize his jackpot by admitting to being a character anymore.

I somehow think it's worse if they're playing the base.

Don't you think it's kind of a duty they have? If they truly believe what they're saying, that's one thing....but if they're using people's gullibility and ignorance to incite hate or fear, isn't that a bad thing and shouldn't they be more responsible?

If people get power somehow (and media is power) they should use it wisely - and not just use it for personal gain.
