Deputy Inspector General Fred Gibson said Wednesday the inspector general's office at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has been probing the role of the executives in bank failures around the country.

Bank executives could face prison terms if convicted of criminal charges. But the burden of proof is higher than in civil cases and usually involves showing deliberate intent to commit fraud or other violations. The inspector general's office is working with the FBI in the investigations as is customary in such cases. Gibson didn't identify any of the banks or individuals involved.

We need to establish a new crime called "Greed beyond all reason"... we can't just accept businessmen & women doing anything and everything just to make a profit. That is not capitalism at all, that is robbery.

About 5 miles like me?

Regarding the dreaded "regulation of capitalism"...I am all for it and I've always supported regulation. Without regulation, capitalism will destroy itself.

We, as in "we the people" should want regulation in order to provide the framework in which capitalism can survive and flourish. Keeping in mind that the only reason we allow corporations it exist is due to the benefits they provide society.

Once they stop benefitting society, we have no use for them.

5 miles? More like 5 blocks!

The list of corporate charters which no longer serve the People and need to be revoked is long. Unfortunately, thanks to the recent USSC decision affording corporations equal status to the People, that will never happen. They are now in complete control and are using their agents in government to further cement their position by removing barriers to their destructive goals.

There are more than enough people willing to go along with those efforts and not nearly enough to oppose them. It's like a runaway train.

"If only..."

If only we could find out the extent to which corp's and elected officials conspire to undermine what is best for "we the people".

If only we knew how many congressmen have accepted bribes.

If only we knew the extent to which a few people who see themselves as the "chosen few" try to change this country without our permission or knowledge.

If only we knew about secret clubs and secret meetings of the wealthy and powerful.

If only we knew...then maybe we'd be angry enough to start a revolution that would permanently extinguish the lives of these arrogant people. I can assure you, I'd participate in such a revolution...but sadly, we just don't know.

I would LOVE to see a new law that makes any gov't official accepting a bribe an "ACT OF TREASON" which would be punishable by execution or life in prison.

I think we really need something like that to show these sob's (in both parties) how their citizens view such arrogance.
