Could u give up washing? A growing number of people are cutting down on daily showers
Ewwww....
Could you give up washing?
A growing number of people are cutting down on daily showering and hair-washing. So could you join the extreme soap-dodgers?
Kira Cochrane The Guardian, Tuesday 2 November 2010 Article history
If you are reading this article over breakfast, the chances are you have recently stepped into the shower, lathered up your hair and torso, rinsed off, towelled and blow-dried, before dousing your armpits with deodorant, and wafting on a fog of perfume or aftershave.
Then again, maybe not. The New York Times has just reported on a new trend towards what's sometimes known as soap-dodging. Among those who have cut down on daily showers, baths or hair-washing were a woman who swipes a sliced lemon under her armpits instead of deodorant, another who uses baby wipes to freshen up after her lunchtime runs, and a salesman who shampoos only once a month and gave up anti-perspirant for three years.
There are, of course, environmental benefits. In a bid to reduce his carbon footprint to the absolute minimum, environmentalist Donnachadh McCarthy, 51, limits his showers to about twice a week.

Honestly, not showering sucks, but when everyone is doing it you really don't notice (specially when you have other things on your mind) but not showering and then going to work in a civilized country? Ya no. That's just wrong and gross.

Sounds "Al Gorish"
Illegal aliens have bowel movements in the colorado river then they take a bath in Arizona swimming pools, they urinate in the pool while they're "lathering up" sometimes they have group sex, dogs jump in with them.

The cost of water has tripled in parts of the SW US. It will continue to rise as more people move there to escape the cold.
Also, many people are rightly concerned that toxic chemicals applied to the body every day lead to problems down the line. Daily showering is a recent phenomenon and unique to the US. Before WWII, the "Saturday night bath" was more common.
Moe: "Hey, Puddinhead! Take a bath!"
Curley: "But it ain't Saturday night!"
Moe: (raising fist) "Whyyyyy...I oughtta"
Plus, many liberals have quit using Right Guard because it sounds too fascist. (ba-dum BOOM!)

Many people don't realize that taking a shower everyday is a recent phenominon as you wrote. I definately feel better if I take a shower in the morning.
I live alone and work from home...so no one knows if I take a shower everyday...and I don't. If I work out, I shower after everytime. I prolly go 2 days a week without showering...but it varies each week.

I have known this for a long time ... when I was a teen in the 70's I dated a girl who worked at an Almacs in a poor part of town ... where we lived no less. So one day she tells me about some people she sees all the time and they never buy soap. I'm like no way ... maybe they steal it from restaurants. Talked to a few people ... it was true. Some people to save money rarely buy soap. I grew up poor ... but my mom made sure we were clean ... especially behind our ears for some reason.

Dude, I've been to Europe over 30 times in my life. I've been there as a kid, and as an adult. I remember when showering once a week, or month, was the norm over there. For some people there it still is. Trust me, you don't want to be walking down that road. Better yet, you don't want the people around you walking down that road either. Wow, B.O. (and I don't mean Barack Obama) is one putrid smell. It's flat nasty. I'll take the chemicals once a day, as opposed to being gassed by those around me.
