Re: Assange Walks Out on CNN Interview
If anyone here still somehow believes that our military behaves honorably and that protecting their strategic goals takes precedence over the release of any documents, take a moment to watch the brief documentary "The Hidden Massacre of Fallujah" which is easily found on YouTube. Surely if you are confident in your outlook on this, and help fund the war as a taxpayer, watching a short film about one of the defining events in Iraq isn't asking too much?
Remember when a few Blackwater employees were killed and Bush decided to attack the city the killers were from in retaliation? This film shows you what really happened there. America decided to literally destroy the entire city. Our troops dropped white phosphorus (a chemical weapon banned in international treaties) over the city, burning the entire population alive.
It is extremely disturbing but it shows you that the Pentagon has many times committed what are clearly war crimes and then covered it up. The film also shows how they went to great lengths to prevent any footage of what happened from emerging. None of this was covered in detail in the American press.
If, after watching this, you can still bring yourself to support our campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan (whose objective no one can explain) then fair enough. But you owe it to the people who died there to at least know the truth of what happened.
