The Baker campaign yesterday outlined more rigorous requirements for welfare recipients, including a minimum 30-hour workweek for single parents of children older than 6; a five-year lifetime limit on persons receiving welfare benefits; and annual eligibility status checks to prevent illegal aliens from collecting state aid.
Baker’s initiative, first reported in yesterday’s Herald, came after a Herald report Friday on the abuse of EBT cards.
Baker called for an end to the abuses associated with EBTs, which function like debit cards, and can be used to buy alcohol and cigarettes, or used to get cash from ATMs to buy lottery tickets or anything else the welfare recipients want.
Illegal aliens should not be collecting state aid !
Welfare money should go to food, not alcohol and tobacco.

Ending welfare as an entitlement program;
Requiring recipients to begin working after two years of receiving benefits;
Placing a lifetime limit of five years on benefits paid by federal funds;
Aiming to encourage two-parent families and discouraging out-of-wedlock births.
Enhancing enforcement of child support.
The legislation also greatly limited funds available for unmarried parents under 18, and restricted any funding to immigrants (legal or illegal).[4] Some state programs emphasized a shift towards work with names such as "Wisconsin Works" and "WorkFirst". Between 1997 and 2000, enormous numbers of the poor have left or been terminated from the program, with a national drop of 53% in total recipients.[12]

Yes.... I am aware if the great job Clinton did on Welfare reform.
I am also aware that if you do not ask someone to prove legal citizenship when they sign up for benefits,
there is a good chance that the rules will be broken.
Please explain, how Zeituni Onyango got housing and social program
benefits while she was illegal.
We know she has not been given political asylum, but how did she
get the benefits while she was illegal????

Ask the people who did this, personally take a lot of responsibility for many things but do not lay claim to this..
The problem here is that you are using anecdotal evidence to point to a larger issue, whether this is the exception or the rule do not know... you can assume all you want, but in reality need more evidence.

Darryls
Do you really believe that Auntie Z is the only illegal receiving benefits in
Massachusetts?
If that is the case, why won't Deval reveal the real numbers?
The Democrat-controlled Massachusetts House came within a razor-thin margin yesterday of advancing a Republican proposal to block public benefits for illegal immigrants, a reversal from last year when opponents easily torpedoed the measure.

No, but instead of using intelligent discourse, you resorted to the predictable anecdotal hysteria... the reality is that this should not be allowed.
Anecdotal hysteria or not...The Truth is..... Deval Patrick and the democrats do not want you to know how many illegals are receving benefits in Massachusetts and the democrats do not want to make changes to prevent them from receiving benefits.

You fell for that b.s.? What did Charlie Baker propose? How do you give those who are in legitimate need of welfare money for incidentals. A single guy who is mentally ill will get around $90/month to cover incidentals (shaving cream, razors, a haircut, clothes, etc.). Did Charlie Baker propose a specific way for the state to manage that so that people don't misuse the money, or did he simply take you for a ride by not offering a real solution? I know you find it hard to believe, but most of the people who get welfare are really very troubled.

I like the idea......
It is far better than anything Deval Patrick is offering.
Deval wants Illegals to receive in state tuition and he will not release
the number of illegals receiving benefits.
I am not out to cut off benefits to anyone who is legal and is
qualifies for benefits. Although I do support workfare.
Giving benefits to illegals, is rewarding bad behavior.
They are breaking the law, so they should not be receiving benefits.
