As I see it, this is an inherently political issue and the Senate is doing its job by trying to force the administration to negotiate. That's how it always plays out with the handful of controversial appointments in each administration.
Do have any examples where the republican Senate Filibustered USSC nominees because they didn't like the ideology of the nominee? I don't recall any such cases.

Unlike the current Senate.

First, we're not talking about filibusters. Second, I think you're proving my point of your double standard (or conveniently poor memory), but check this out:
