Default Cape Wind rates will whack businesses, hospitals, schools

Cape Wind rates will whack businesses, hospitals, schools - BostonHerald.com

Quote:
The Bay State’s hard-pressed businesses, cash-strapped schools and expensive hospitals will get whacked especially hard by Cape Wind’s high electric rates even though there’s far cheaper wind energy available from existing turbines in nearby Maine and elsewhere, a Herald review shows.

Gov. Deval Patrick, who strongly backs the controversial off-shore wind project, has brushed off concerns about Cape Wind’s costs, saying residential customers will pay roughly the equivalent of a cup of coffee, or $1.25 a month more. But a review of National Grid’s own estimates of the above-market prices it would pay for Cape Wind power shows that local businesses, nonprofits and other large energy users will be paying far more - in some cases as much as tens of thousands extra each month.
Great job Deval... .When going green puts you in the red.

So now conservatives are against Cape Wind? Is it because Kennedy is dead?

As a conservative life long Cape resident, I assure you all the conservatives here are against it.

That's easy enough to fix. Just make them look like oil rigs and write

Drill Baby Drill

On every one.

I'm reminded of Holy Diver's 'What happens if they spill all that wind into Nantucket Sound?' thread.

Actually, I want more nuclear power but you'd just find a way to demonize that too, right?

The project sucks. It makes ZERO sense. Why are people supporting it? This is why this state blows chunks.

This project is a blackhole. The numbers being presented are totally bogus. The real costs of the project will be far more than the admin, and developers, are stating. The players are also ignoring the massive costs of eventually replacing these turbines as they poop the bed. It's a horrendous project, and one that will eventually cost taxpayers, and electricity users tens to hundreds of millions of dollars, above and beyond what it's stated costs are today. Politicians truly don't get it.

Patters

I am not against wind energy, I am just against no bid contracts.

Although I am on the right, I never agreed with Bush & Cheney giving Haliburton a no bid contact.

Somehow I have a feeling you did not agree with Haliburton getting no
bid contacts.

Why do you think Deval should be giving out no bid contracts for
cape wind?

Deval says no bid race track slots are unfair, but supports a no bid
contract for Cape Wind.

Strange.... don't you think....?
