A word of thanks from North Korea; bills itself as U.S. partner 'against terrorism'


In an extremely rare public expression, North Korea officially thanked the United States for helping the crew of a North Korean cargo ship hijacked by pirates off the Somali coast late last month, describing the rescue as a symbol of Washington-Pyongyang rapprochement.

"We feel grateful to the United States for its assistance given to our crewmen. This case serves as a symbol of the DPRK [North Korea]-U.S. cooperation in the struggle against terrorism," the North's state-run Korean Central News Agency said.

Seven pirates, "disguised as guards," boarded the North Korean vessel on Oct. 29 and demanded that the sailors pay them $15,000.

It appears that this is a report on how the (officially atheistic/agnostic) state of North Korea has offered her appreciation and gratitude toward the U.S. for saving their butts from high seas pirates. Did anyone see any reference to "religion" in that story?? Any "ranting" going on in that story????


(Hint: Making wild accusations like this only hurts the accuser's credibility, no one else.)



In any case, Mr. Zimmerman, being a religious seeker himself, has given me blanket approval to use any of his lyrics for the furtherance of God's will. Go ahead and ask him!!

"Peaise God" is a religious rant because the phrase is disconnected from the rest of the post. Prasing God seems to be reserved for when things go surprisingly well. You never hear a religionist say "Screw you, God" when things go unexpectedly wrong. For instance, where was God when the children were dying of malnutrition in North Korea or war was raging there in the 1950's?

That's the religious rant part, I think.
