It is a shame we have made it so difficult for businesses to stay in the USA 7 have driven businesses overseas.

Obama promised incentives for companies manufacturing in the USA.

It was the one thing he said that interested me the most.

But we don't do it ... we print money instead.

When you look at the HEalth Ins mandates, the liability ins situation OSHA overregulation, EPA overregulation and now Cap and trade and eliminating energy based jobs in this country it is no wonder that manufacturing jobs are leaving the country.

right, because de-regulation and cooked books left this country in great shape, as Sept. 2008 proved.

i'm all for a nice balance, including far-more effective government, not larger government. why not you?

THis toxic brew has been mixing for quite awhile.

Don't know what you mean by effective government care to cite some specifics?

How silly of me, thought that this thread was about prison population...

In the 90's towns were recruiting prisons to be built in their locale as there was a guarantee of good, well paying jobs... subsequently a lot of prisons were built, some never opened.

There has been a tremendous encroachment by the private industry (Corrections Corp. of America) to make inroads in this area... the results are mixed.

Places like Alaska send prisoners to Arizona, to be housed in private prisons...

Efforts to create step down programs, especially for older infirmed prisoners are often met with resistance.. as the prison population who fell victim to the 3 strikes rule and are sentenced until they die, get older their costs will increase significantly..

Prisons are a growth industry on all levels in their construction, in their staffing and their legacy costs are staggering...

Since when has government ever shown it can be effective? Any initiative it undertakes is a large, bloated mess. We understand that to be the case with some of the necessaries... war, space program, nation security... but to ever think that government can ever be "effective" by metrics is just silly. Bush even tried that with using scorecard metrics and even those failed epicly.

I believe there was a bill this week dealing with penalties for US companies out sourcing jobs. It was blocked by the RT. there have been a number of bills that should have been embraced by both rt and left that have been blocked by members of the RT. Its not just that Obama is a weak leader the other side seems to be doing all it can to make sure he fails. I have never seen any thing like this, all The Rep side seems to care about is getting back in power at any cost.i spend 5-6-7 hours a day combing the news wires, so its not like im un-informed.

The problem is the left trying to jam everything through without amendments. I'm consistently reading how Democrats are putting things up for a vote without allowing any time for amendments or debate. I'd say no all the time too.
