Default Only in Cambridge - Dog Park Lit by Poop.

The Associated Press: Dog poop has bright side: Powering Mass. park lamp

Quote:
Dog poop is lighting a lantern at a Cambridge dog park as part of a monthslong project that its creator, artist Matthew Mazzotta, hopes will get people thinking about not wasting waste.

The "Park Spark" poop converter is actually two steel, 500-gallon oil tanks painted a golden yellow, connected by diagonal black piping and attached to an old gaslight-style street lantern at the Pacific Street Park.

After the dogs do their business, signs on the tanks instruct owners to use biodegradable bags supplied on site to pick up the poop and deposit it into the left tank. People then turn a wheel to stir its insides, which contain waste and water. Microbes in the waste give off methane, an odorless gas that is fed through the tanks to the lamp and burned off. The park is small but has proven busy enough to ensure a steady supply of fuel.
Hey Patters ... do you have a dog?

Hey lady ... do you have any ExLax?
I can't go in the park until I poop and I'm all backed up.

Did you see that Cambridge is putting yoga instructions on it's parking ticket envelops, so that upset motorists can calm down by doing some yoga in the middle of the street, where their car is parked. What a bizarre city.

LOL ... next time I'm in Cambridge I'm going to drop one of my steamers in that tank.

Eat some chili and corned beef and cabbage ... Bet I burn that bulb out.

A few years ago I went into City Hall for a birth certificate, the friggin loony bastards had a "Condom Machine" in the lobby.

There is also a story that some of the dip *****s won't have Cable TV because they think the CIA is watching them through their TV Sets.

Its better than carrying a bag of dog feces home with you.

When I was a kid the good dog owners taught their dogs to relieve themselves in the gutter, not on the sidewalk. It seemed good enough to me, the rain would wash it away and its not like the substance isn't biodegradable.

So now I can't own a dog. I won't walk around with a bag full of schit, I don't want to be ostracized by my neighbors and I'm sure this dog park won't have parking.

i don't have a dog but it'sfunny to see the responsible dog owners picking up their dogs poo. Even more necessary when living in the city I am sure. This idea could be greater than great ... all senior citizen highrises should have their johns connected to a machine like this. then the seniors can power their Wii and HD TV for bowling free!!!

Yeah but I bet the doohickey cost !2 grand. Which means if it doesn't break it'll only take 47 years of daily use for it to pay for itself.
