That's a stupid article. It's simply a political diatribe that doesn't seriously analyze the economic consequences of losing tens of thousands of people. All of those people buy stuff and they just buy from each other. Our housing crisis would worsen, tens of thousands of jobs would be eliminated, manufacturers would have to cutback their factories, there would be massive layoffs in government, etc. If all the illegal immigrants left, the rice of labor and goods would go up and create inflation. The oversupply of housing would reduce housing costs dramatically and either areas would become desolate or become filled by other poor people. If we ever wanted to get rid of illegals, I think it would have to phased in over a fairly long period.
