Please present those statistics that support your claim. I would be very interested in seeing them.

If they fall into the category of students who will have sex despite whatever they are told, as are numerous teens, the choice is to have them disobey you and get pregnant or have them disobey you and not get pregnant, I would choose the latter as a parent or a public health official, which is why we have sensible policies like this instead of wacko christian reactionaries. Your whole argument is based on the assumption that there are minors that would only have sex if their school makes the pill available to them, and otherwise would not. I reject that flawed assumption. And you were the ones who mixed in abortion into this debate with the parental consent argument. The pill is not the same as having an abortion, minors can already go to their doctors, without their parents knowing it and get on the pill, and in most civilized states, can get an abortion too. This is just more ridiculouss overreaction from the right wing equating this to "Oh my God! now they're encouraging our children to have sex." Did you not read your own article? despite what they were being taught by their parents or otherwise, they were getting pregnant anyway.
Overreaction? Do you have kids?

Those guys would love you and wish there were more people like you..!!
Oh yeah..? What statistics are those..? Please show us some. Because I think that when authority figures provide contraception to 12 year olds, it would probably tend to encourage, not discourage, the activity.
Yeah... right... sure.... because if a 12 year old gets pregnant, it wouldn't affect her parents... no, not at all...

Man, you have some very interesting family dynamics going on in your life there...

So you have no problems with me giving your 11 year old daughter some prescription birth control pills. Got'cha.
Well, for starters, "the pill" is a prescription medicine as being distributed.
What's truly pathetic is that he really believes in what he's saying. We're "overreacting" afterall. Qui, the STATISTICS DAMMIT! So someone tell me what the statistics say about dads raping their 11 year old daughters. Remember, that's reason enough to give every 11 year old girl a prescription for birth control without parental consent.

Some people are truly scary.

Buying condoms is an entirely separate issue. Why is it that most of your kind always answer a question with a question? This isn't about an 11 year old taking birth control, it's about a school giving it to children without parental consent! Parents should be notified of everything involving their children! They are not the schools to raise! If there's an 11 year old that's hooked on heroin, thatt doesn't give the school the right to give out needles behind my back!
what? Please tell me the difference between condoms and the pill. Like I said they can already get it from their doctor without notifying the parents.

Amen... and I'll bet'cha dollars to donuts that (A) he doesn't have an 11 year old daughter, and (B) if/when he does have an 11 year old daughter, he will feel quite differently.

Like I said, you just don't get it. Sadly, this is looking like it's a norm for you. This isn't about condoms versus the pill. This is about a school giving prescription birth control to someone's 11 year old WITHOUT their consent. What part of this do you not understand? If Little Julie walks into a CVS and buys a 12 pack of ribbed, that's not the same as the school giving PRESCRIPTION BIRTH CONTROL to little 11 year old Julie without her parents consent. Little Julie walking into the CVS is her, and her parents issue, and not the schools. The schools job is to EDUCATE children, and not raise them.

Please drive thru.

See just in the same way you accuse me of taking it to the extreme by bringing up minors being raped by their father, you rush to the most extreme case of this, 11 yr olds having sex. The youngest someone could be in a middle school is 11, most of whom don't even know what sex is. This is designed to say "look, we are going to do our best to ensure that middle school students aren't having sex, but given the fact that some of them inevitably will, which is not ok, we want to make sure they are safe from not only an unwanted pregnancy, but a pregnancy that can be downright dangerous to still developing child." And the same people who keep simplistically over and over again saying, "here's an idea: don't let them have sex" these are the same people who constantly whine about swear words and Janet Jackson's b.oob on tv and how "oh you've never had kids, you can't police what they watch 24/7" well the same goes for sex, you cannot control it 24/7 and unfortunately the hope is that those who disobey will atleast be as safe as possible. No 15 year old who is going to have sex is not going to because they can't get the pill.

you're whole argument hinges on the "prescription" part. after all, condoms are "birth control" too. It is only "prescription" because the dosage has to be specified for each individual patient, other than that it is not the same as other prescription medicines because no one can ever be turned down for it.

If he has kids I feel bad. Honestly. I doubt he does though. What infuriates me about this stuff is that people have absolutely ZERO right to raise someone else's child. I'm at a loss to see that some absolute sheep have no problem with a school doing things like this to their kids without them knowing. What's next, masturbation class? Do your drugs in a safe environment class? Loons man, complete loons.

hahaha there you go again "raise" someone elses child. It is absolutely none of your business whether or not I have a child, but supposing I did, where would your argument go from here? why would you post this on the messageboard if all it was going ot boil down to is name calling and saying "I know better than you." And make sure to keep bringing up 11 year olds (not 14 or 15 yr olds), the most extreme possible example, because that is the tactic of the right.
