I am not defending Gore or the IPCC, I am criticizing the spin and politicization of the whole thing and how any thing that happens at any time becomes a political issue. Most times the Nobel Peace Prize is ignored, but this year because of a lot of right wing press & spin (including Rush) has negated the value of the whole nobel process.

This is in the big scale of things not a very big deal, who won the prize for literature? Who won it for science? That is my point, the politicization of just about anything for the promotion of a left or right agenda is ruining this country and benign processes associated with it. This is no big deal, except in the internet.
Well jeez, before Al Gore won the prize did you know who he was? Was he popular before Nobel named him? In that sense, can you tell me who MUHAMMAD YUNUS and GRAMEEN BANK are? Probably not right. Well, if you don't know who they are now, did you know them prior to their winning the Peace prize in 2006? I don't think so. The reason why this is topical, is because Al Gore is a popular political figure in the both the world, and the United States. If some unknown won it, we wouldn't be talking about it. Had some 30 year old brick layer from Woburn had kid out of wedlock with his ex girlfriend, guess what, it wouldn't be discussed here. When Tom Brady does, it's going to get talked about.

You didn't ask that question to learn anything or to stimulate a discussion. You did it to set up a punchline. Forgive me for not playing.
That's right, I'm unreceptive to ideas. Maybe it's just that I'm unreceptive to stupid & illogical one's. I'll take your response to mean what it does. That you have no clue. Afterall, you've now taken the time to write two responses telling me how you know, but just won't tell me. It's ok though. Al Gore is your buddy, and you're so open to idea's, unlike myself, that you'd admit that the award didn't fit the criteria if you truly felt that way.

Different parts of the world have different issues when it comes to peace. For instance, water rights in the ME is very key to peace and stability; farmland in Africa is very important; all over the world there are struggles that are rooted in climate. When weather patterns change it affects fresh water and farmland, and can result in battles for survival. Not everything, RW, revolves around the United States.
I've heard this rationale, and I just don't buy it. Climate changes can do as much for peace, as it can for war. During the medival warming period, which was a time that far less civilized, and less advanced as we are today, the warming resulted in prosperity. To say that Global Warming is going to result in war is a serious stretch.

“to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”

I just don't see how Al Gore's movie does this. Hey, it's their award, they can give it to whomever they want, but they cheapen it when they play politics with it. Ghandi, Al Gore. Hmmm....Yasir Arafat, Ghandi. Hmmm..... Henry Kissinger, Ghandi. Hmmm.... Maybe I'm in the minority, but something just doesn't jive here.
