I just got home after a while away and woke to the news of the Indians scoring 7 runs in the 11th, I haven't had coffee, and this is the first thread I read this morning. I think my head's going to explode!
LOL, that's why I went on this rant........... Fukcing Sox. I stayed up to 1:30 this morning, only to watch that POS Gagme throwing ducks in the the top O' the 11th in the ALCS.........

Look in any THESAURUS dude. Used in the verb tense, the act of COMMITTING TREASON, is synonymous with which word.......... wait for it, betray
You know, as in General Betray Us?
You do realize that you do not have to actually use the word treason or treachery to get that specific point across. MoveOn's objective was SPECIFICALLY to accuse General Petraeus of betraying (or commiting treachery against) the American people. If not in the legal sense, certainly in fundemental actions way. If you can't see that, then you are a drone, incapable of objectivity. You can feel free to disagree with what Petraeus says, and you take what Sanchez says as gospel, but to say either is BETRAYING us for stating what they beleive to be true is DISHONEST.
That's pretty much why I left this part of this forum, some of you people are so fukcing clouded in your political rhetoric, you can't possibly begin to be objective in any of this.
That is the most dishonest thing I've ever heard. You know damn well that saying he has betrayed us by lying is not the same as saying he should be charged with treason "a crime punishable by death" as Quigon said. Remember the title of that Anne Coulter book by the way? Remember the Republicans supporting that smear ad that actually called hero disabled war vet Max Cleland a traitor? Where was the Right wing false indignation then? Saying that someone betrayed the American people by not living up to his responsibilities as an accountable general is not even close to saying that he betrayed us to the enemy, which would be treason and you know the difference, and Quigon knows the difference, but right wingers have mastered twistng things like this into somekind of angering "unpatriotic" rant instead of a critique of the war and those leading it. Don't forget that this ad came out before Patreaus testified the most recent time, and was preobably responsible for pressuring him into being more honest, as you say he was.
And we need to get rid of Gagne immediately. What is the point of having a pitcher that is capable of blowing any lead you have? I understand the pitch count limit for him, but if we had Buccholz it would be a different story.
Singular, not plural. It's a classic tactic by spinsters. Talk about a specific person, but pluralize him, and then when called on it, if you are, simply state the obvious. "well, he's a soldier right?"

Because the same criticisms that Sanchez has of the war are the same ones that the MoveOn ad accuses Patreaus of lying about (i.e. neverending quagmire etc.). So Sanchez's accusations seem to reinforce exactly what MoveOn says in that ad, and exactly what Patreaus keeps denying.
How do you come to these conclusions? As do most anti-war people, you're reaching for words and meaning that are not there. Sanchez is specifically criticizing the "post war planning". Where does he criticize Petraues or the surge?

which one of us are you responding to? If it's me then I'd say that the very things Sanchez has said are those that Moveon has accused Patreaus of lying about, and that's not my interpretation. Also, it is Patreaus' responsibility to honestly report to congress. Last time I checked the constitution, the power to wage war is enumerated to Congress, and they also hold the power of the purse, so a lying General that is directly contradicted by another General (Sanchez) isn't about MoveOns "agenda" (the word you use to undermine dissent) it's about accountability and whether or not our generals are leaders of our armed forces or just spokesmen for the administration's propaganda. This is a lesson we learned all too well during Vietnam.
Wow, I really am having a hard time figuring out how you can logically come to your conclusions regarding Sanchez's words, MoveOn, & Petreaus.

I don't believe for a second that Sanchez's problem were his instructions to the troops. I think the problem lies with the orders that Sanchez was told to carry out. I don't blame any of the soldiers for the broad mess we're in in Iraq, not even the generals.
