The Democrats are not the prigs that Republicans are. The Democrats know that people make mistakes in their private lives, and are more forgiving. People like Craig and Vitter have a double standard, but double standards are the M.O. of the Republican Party ever since they got in bed with the religious right.
And there you have it folks... running a gay brothel from your Washington DC apartment has now officially been labelled "making a mistake"...
By the way... here's a newsflash you seem to be in desperate need of... violating the laws of the United States (whether by a democrat or Republican) is not considered "private". When a Congressman runs a gay brothel, which I am quite certain is illegal, you are subject to public consequences. That is not a "private" matter.

He's a disgrace to any honorable person that has to go to the bathroom, how many mothers traveling without their husbands have to stand outside the mensroom waiting for their Ten year old son when they know a Slimey F-cking Snake like Craig might be in there looking for a quickie.
These bastards belong in prison not the US Congress, why don't they find a boy friend like themselves and go to a Motel.
When they do this they are playing with their life, there are some violent nuts out there that would think nothing of slitting Craigs throat and leave him laying on the floor beside the toilet seat.
I wish I could get into a ladies room-------

If you were a reporter, your description of Frank running a gay brotherl would be libelous. But, given that you are not a reporter, you are merely ill-informed.
They're all POS who are an embarassment to the office they served. Look at them all, and then wonder why society is in the shape that it's in. Well, if these people can get away with being losers, then why can't everybody else? Part of being an elected official, whether you like it or not, is being moral, and ethical. You're on a stage in front of the country's men, women, and (most importantly) children who look up to you for leadership. If you're up there cheating on your wife, embezzling money, taking kick backs, having sex in rest rooms, molesting children, or running a brothel inside your apartment, are caught, and get to keep your job, what message are we sending the public? That it's ok to do this kind of crap? Oh, my bad, but he said he was sorry. Dang, I must have missed that.
You're so judgmental. First of all, many people make mistakes in their lives. Celebrities are more tested than most of us with temptation. Some of them fail, but it doesn't necessarily mean they fail completely. Also, what is failure? By many accounts, Reagan was a poor father. Some would find that that worse than going to a prostitute once. If we hold people to too high a standard, then they are more easily subject to blackmail and feel forced to lie.
Now, some of your points, like embezzling money and taking kickbacks have directly to do with one's office, and that should certainly be subject to removal from office. Obviously, molesting children also fits into that category. But, what really is Craig guilty of: a self-demeaning and tacky attempt to pick up someone? If the cop had simply said, "Get the f- away from me," which most people would, nothing would have happened (and they didn't have sex). Vitters is guilty of one of the oldest crimes, but no one was hurt, and it's only a crime becaue of our fake morality in this country of ours that leads the world in pornography.

Celebrities? Celebrities? What's the price of Banana's anyway?
Who cares what celebrities do? We're talking about our ELECTED OFFICIALS. Sheesh. You are such an appologist. I'm judgemental? No, I'm accountable. Sorry if I expect the people who are elected to lead us to be moral, ethical, and ACCOUNTABLE. WTF does being a father have to do with any of this? Being a good father is completely subjective. Cheating on your wife, ebezzling cash, etc, is not.
Again, people do make mistakes. I'm not saying they don't, or that life doesn't go on. My position is clear, that people, if forgiven, are not devoid of accountability. Holding public office demands that you are a exemplary individual. When you are not, you should be held accountable. When you permit people in these positions to commit terrible acts and suffer no consequences, you cannot expect the common man to expect any different. If Bob wants to cheat on his wife, that's his business, and his choice. However, if Bob gets caught, he should expect to be held accountable.
Celebrities.....HA!

Yeah... right... sure.... his "roommate" was running a gay brothel from his Washington DC apartment, but he didn't know anything about it... yeah... right... sure... and if you believe that, I have some cattle futures I can get you a great deal on
Seriously Patters... your childlike naivete would be cute if you were, like, 10 years old... but since you're not, feel free to join the rest of us in the real world here...

Politicians are celebrities. I assumed you knew the meaning of the word. Sorry.

We're not arguing about embezzling cash, but in my universe a lousy father is no better than a man who engages in prostitution. You're holding on to an older moral code. Yes, what Vitters, Craig, Frank, and Studds did was wrong, and they have been held accountable. They've been embarrassed and, in the case of Frank and Studds formally criticized. If someone who has sex with a prostitute should not be in office, what punishment do you have in mind for someone who abuses his office (such as by embezzling), the death penalty or perhaps being drawn and quartered is more to your liking?

We actually agree, but disagree on the punishment. I think all those men should be held accountable, but that doesn't mean their mistake should cost them their office.
