On the subject of "what should we do in Iraq", the American public has chimed in and contrary to our beloved buffoon Congress -- and perhaps indicating just WHY it has a 17% approval rating at present -- more than half of Americans want to take the "Go Slow and Sure" approach:



51% Say Wait Till September for Iraq Policy Change

Fifty-one percent (51%) of American voters say that the United States should wait for the September progress report before making major policy changes in Iraq. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 38% disagree.

At the same time, however, just 32% of voters believe that it is possible for the United States to win the war in Iraq. Fifty-four percent (54%) say it is not possible while 13% are not sure.

Also, 53% would like the Senate to join the House of Representatives and pass legislation requiring a troop withdrawal to begin in 120 days. Thirty-seven percent (37%) are opposed.

Iraq remains the top issue before the nation--92% of voters say they are following the issue closely. Fifty-five percent (55%) know a friend or family member who is currently in Iraq.

it's hysterical to see righties put their logic-leaping spin on precisely why they believe Congress has poor approval numbers....

Congress has extra low approval because of Republican stonewalling in support of their corrupt executive branch.... nothing more or less...

I highly doubt that. Not that that doesn't have something to do with it, but I think it's a malaise towards politicians in general. Most people I come into contact with don't feel that either party is looking out for them, but rather just squabbling back and forth playing petty one-up games. We just don't think they're working for our betterment, Republicans or Democrats.

again... something people like you seem completely unable to comprehend... Congress' numbers are ALWAYS poor... Bush, however, had his numbers up around 70% by mere circumstance, and pissed it all away...

anyhow, i'm not sure what kind of public school math you received in your youth, but how is 17% half of 26%?

14% isn't low it is totally in the toliet, hell even the pubbies were at 28% when they lost congress last fall.

You can spin it your way in your own mind if you want, but how can the Repubs be "stone-walling" when the Dems control BOTH the Senate AND the Congress??!

You're just making excuses, which is all this Congress has to show for itself. Poor ones, at that.
