Can things get any more dismal for these charlatans, fakirs, and frauds? The Pelosi gang has now plummeted to an all-time low of 14% trust rating!!! Wow!!
Read it and weep, Bush-haters:
New Gallup data show confidence in Congress at all time low
Just 14% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.
This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973. The previous low point for Congress was 18% at several points in the period of time 1991 to 1994.
Congress is now nestled at the bottom of the list of Gallup's annual Confidence in Institutions rankings, along with HMOs. Just 15% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in HMOs. (By way of contrast, 69% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the military, which tops the list. More on this at galluppoll.com on Thursday).
It’s worth remembering that Congress is basically nothing more than a mechanism for the representation of the people’s wishes. We all can’t go to Washington. So we elect men and women and send them off in our stead. It’s not an optimal situation, it seems to me, when such a low percentage of average Americans have confidence in this system.
Generally speaking, Americans have been skeptical about Congress for decades now. But the current 14% confidence rating for Congress is down from 19% last year and is the lowest in Gallup’s history, surpassing the 18% confidence in Congress measured in 1991, 1993 and 1994.

Combined with the 28% that trust George, indicates what a sad state of affairs that America is in right now... guess the will of the people is not being followed, if they had voted to stop the war in Iraq their ratings would have probably been well over 50%.. nothing to back it up, but that is what the majority of the American People want.

99% of the people -- in America and the world, too -- want the war to end. Who likes war? It's sick.
But the question is: what to do afterward; how to prevent another Saddam; how to effect a peace between Shi'a, Sunni, and Kurd; a peace with the non-Muslim world.
Many questions hang over our heads, and we need to make the right decisions because the wrong one could be very costly.

I guess you are right, the will and wishes of the American people should be denied.. if it never happened questions like this would never have come up..

I'm trying to agree with your premise here, but if you want to twist it around into something it's not, then go pound sand.

It is what it is, take it at face value, should not have gone to war in Iraq, should get out as soon as possible.. pure and simple. If we did not go there your questions would not be asked. The American People spoke in the last election and all of our elected officials do not listen and do exactly as they want, pander to big gov't and big special interest.

You are ignoring the fact that we ARE there. And we need to make sure that before we "leave" we put in place a stable system that will not become a haven for terrorism. This is what the goal was from the beginning, as far as I am concerned (and as far as Bush is concerned, fwiw).
I know you're upset over the war, and believe me when I say that I am more than upset over this continued strife which does nothing but drag down the U.S. and the world. Having said that, we must always remember that as the leader of the world we have a responsibility to Iraq and the Middle East to create peace-loving and stable governance.

two questions:
1) who said we're the "leader of the world?"
2) where was it ever written we have a "responsibility" to Iraq and the Middle East to create peace-loving and stability?
this privatized occupation was a choice, not a "responsibility"... how arrogant...

Good luck with your lofty goals, Iraq was not a safe haven for terrorists prior to our invasion, now it is.. to achieve this it will take about 20 years, billions of dollars and a lot of lives on both sides.

Abandoning Iraq to either Saddam's terror or al qaeda's terror is not an option.

But this thread, all hijacking attempts in vain, is all about the false promises of the DEMOCRATS who said they were the new marshals in town, gonna clean everything up.
Well, guess what: they are clearly no better than those they said were "so bad".
So, spin, spin, spin to your hearts' contents. In the end good will win and evil will lose. Hope for everyone's sake they are on the side of good.
