Default Lady in Iowa going to jail for stealing TP..

Before you go on a tangent Harry, save the Cheryl Crow comments, anyways this is a bit weird.. this lady may be going to jail for stealing some TP from the courthouse, she has a web site.. looks as though she is some type of media whore who loves the attention, but another example of the so called 3 strikes rule gone awry.. there are some links that go along with it. But we all seem outraged by the inadequacies of the legal system, this lady is loving her 5 minutes of fame and seems to want to draw attention to herself, my resolution is to send her to some psych ward and put her in the snake pit..

http://savesuzannemariebutts.wetpaint.com/?t=anon

The reason I feel this way is they are using her name and toilet paper to get media attention, to there little town if it was Jane Doe, this woman would not have been on news stations, and newspapers all over this country. I feel stealing is wrong, but humilating a person like this is far worse a crime. Even the police spokesperson could not keep professionalism in his 5 minutes of fame, which is disgusting!!

PLEASE, HELP!

I AM HOPING A MILLION AMERICANS SEND
A ROLL OF TOILET PAPER TO THE MARSHALLTOWN COURTHOUSE TO SAVE SUZANNE'S BUTT!

IN A TIME WHEN PARIS HILTON AND PERVERTS GET OFF WITH A SLAP ON THE HAND, ISN'T IT SAD THAT WHEN A WOMAN NEEDS SOME TOILET PAPER SHE CAN FACE UP TO 3 YEARS IN PRISON!

Because of prior convictions, Butts faces up to two years in prison — for three rolls of toilet paper. Despite what some may consider a harsh penalty, Supervisor Gordie Johnson was not sympathetic.

I feel ZERO pity for this woman. Don't steal if you don't want to go to jail.

I think it is idiotic to consider prison for this offense, right now it costs on average 35K a year of taxpayers money to go to jail. Make her life uncomfortable in other ways, she is a media whore, do not play into it.. there are other alternatives, jailing her will only make her a martyr to a perverse group of people out there who love their 5 mintues of fame. But then again she looks like she is trying very hard to get there, I would try something like a week of "shock incarceration", nothing physically abusive, but something very uncomfortable, before I would like to see her committed for a longer period of time.

Maybe 3 years in jail will wipe the smile off her face. "Several pending cases of theft". I think the 35K it takes to incarcerate her will be a savings in the long run to society. Remember this isn't even half the story I am sure and certainly not 50% of the truth. So she thinks it is funny and trying to get TP sent to the court house, hold her in contempt and tack on another year IMO.

as RW pointed out, this woman is NOT going to jail because of stealing toilet paper, shes going because she has committed many other offenses, and thats only the ones she was caught doing.

typical media altering of a story for a good chuckle.

Exactly...if you live in an area that has a 3 strike rule..pay attention!

So much for due process, eh!!! I am not sure that having toilet paper sent to a court house is in contempt of anything that existed prior to the alleged offense having taken place. If there was a crime of mockery, then that would be another story...
