Not surprised that you'd see a racist aspect to this, Patters. Tell me, did you have this thought before Sharpton came out with this? If so, why didn't you say anything about it? You missed my point that she got off because she is a HILTON and the Hiltons happen to be not only white but are entrenched in LA society and are connected to politics and officialdom there very deeply for generations. Few blacks have that type of access to favors even if they're filthy rich because they are new money and don't have the generational political connections. There are few black families that have such generational wealth, and that is a different discussion that we can have in 50 years when the descendants of Bill Cosby, Oprah, and Barak Obama are running around like spoiled rich kids.

My point is that I can never defend Sharpton, but when the sheriff did what he did he did not think through the consequences of his actions, and thus opened a whole **** can of worms. Sharpton jumped on it as he does, in my eyes not well, but he will take any opportunity to do this. Moral of the story if you are in a high position think about the consequences of your actions and what will happen if you do something and who will try to profit from you mistakes. The questioning of the sheriff goes with the turf, and he was probably told to meet with him in his chain of command.

Ask any Cop in this country how many "home boys" and "gang bangers" are driving cars around with no insurance, stolen license plates, no drivers license, numerous driving offenses on their records and many carry no ID at all, most of these people don't even go to court let alone jail, most of the Gang Bangers and Home Boys that are in Jail are Murderers and drug Dealers.

Have you ever heard the little Rat Sharpton mention this fact.

It isn't to hard to figure out why many in the "Black Community" support Sharpton, many also support Louis Farrakhan.

That's my point. That's why I said it's not blatant racism. It's institutional. It's the kind of advantages that white people get because of past racism. There's not a lot we can do about, but it's not unreasonable to demand equal application of the law. The Sheriff can defuse this by providing examples of black people who, in a similar circumstance, were allowed to serve their time at home.

RW, I don't think Sharpton makes any secret about representing black interests, not that he opposes the rights of others. I think you're as unlikely to find Al Sharpton fighting for rights of non-blacks as you are to find Trent Lott fighting for the rights of non-whites.

It's not black and white, it's rich and poor. And there are more poor blacks than whites - and more crime committed by blacks than whites. It's just how it is. And don't blame whitey for that.
