Default Some exciting news from Larry Flynt

While this story comes from a tabloid, the tabloid is the New York Post, one of Murdoch's flagship papers. While I do not think sexual indiscretions between consenting adults is reason for a politician to step down, it's quite clear the Republican Party has a different standard on this matter. At any rate, with a little luck they can be asked humiliating questions in the hope that they will perjure themselves, even if they didn't commit a crime in the first place.

Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt, days after posting a $1 million bounty for verifiable information on the sexual exploits of Washington pols, says he's been deluged - getting more than 200 leads, "80 percent of them on Republicans."

"I'm not interested in exposing anyone's sex life," Flynt said in a telephone interview. "It's the hypocrisy I'm after."

The California-based porn king posted a full-page ad in The Washington Post on Sunday, offering $1 million for any "documented evidence of intimate relations with a Congressperson, Senator or other prominent officeholder," information that must be verified and published in Hustler.

In 1998, a similar offer during the Monica Lewinsky scandal resulted in GOP House Speaker-elect Bob Livingston's resignation after Flynt prepared to release an informant's details of his illicit affair. Flynt also revealed an affidavit from the wife of then-GOP abortion foe Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia, saying he paid for her abortion.

If someone has lied under oath, I hope they throw the book at them. If someone was paying for a piece of ass, then that's his own business, so long as he was't married. Then it's his wifes business too.

Unless they were paying for a piece of ass in Nevada and not Las Vegas...prostitution is against the law.

and ...... RW, it IS our biz when these people are representatinves, and senators that we elect. I think it IS our biz when our tax dollars are being given to an escort. I'm not being naieve and saying this is the first time this has happened in the history of the world, but if you mess with the bull, you'd better expect to get the horns.

If these clowns used Govt. money to pay for sex, or for anything personal for that matter, that is completely unacceptable. I don't want people to misunderstand me here. I'm by no means condoning the act of paying for sex. If you break the law you should face punishment. My position here has more to do with the issue of prostituiton as I have always felt it should be legal. I've always said that one way or another, you're paying. Being a business man, I applaud those who cut out the middle men and buy direct! (teasing)

Seriously though, if tax payer money was used then this becomes a matter of corruption. I throw the book at all corruption.

Or if these favors were received as a result of their votes, kinda a back seat perk.. I agree on the issue of prostitution, always thought that this could be regulated and raise some tax revenue.

We're in 100% agreement. Not to hijack this thread, but just so people know where I am coming from, my version of legalized prositution wouldn't eqaul a hooker on your local street corner. It would be like Amsterdam & Nevada do it.

So, in other words, when a democrat has an affair, that's OK, but when a Republican does he should be prosecuted. Got'cha.
