Whatever someone wants to do, or is, in their private life, is their business. I don't treat anyone any differently than anyone else. Where I have an issue with this, is that it is the responsibility of the parents, not the school to raise children. I wouldn't want, nor do I think, that someone's agenda should be forced upon chidlren. This goes to the monopoly the government, and a certain political niche has on education in this country. With each passing year, there are fewer private schools, and those that exist, become hard and harder to get into, or to afford. That's not by accident, it's by design. It's why there is such opposition to vouchers. The teachers union, nor the education dept, want choice. They want to monopolize education, and in many ways already have. I find this agenda, and that crap that seminar was spewing in Boulder as inappropriate, and unacceptable. I find religion in these schools to be the same way. If you want to teach your kid, or expose you child to that stuff, do so on your own. You have every right to on your own.

Fine, then no fairy tales about a Prince and a Princess, since I'll bet some people find it controversial that only heterosexual relationships are taught as "normal".

Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, that is what schools were created for, keep the socialist agenda social sh!t out of school.

Would that have been your attitude when interracial marriages were first legalized? How about when mixed religion relationships were first accepted? If it's legal, there's nothing wrong with teaching a book that has characters who are gay, who are black, who are Muslim, who are American, etc. Where exactly do you draw the line? How about sadistic poems about birds baked in a pie or a woman who cuts off the tails of blind mice? Geez, talk about politically correct ....

I lived in Norway for several years, where childhood curiosity was fostered, and I am certain kids there today certainly read stories with gay characters. If it had been America, they would have been strapped in place for fear of lawsuits, which surely would have happened.

Exposing a kid to a relationship has nothing to do with protecting their innocence. Children learn at a young age about princes, princesses, kings, and queens. Next thing you know parents are going to object to Black Beauty and Bambi for fear kids will learn about bestiality.

This isn't Norway. If you like how they live there, then move back.
