Do you think Mikey needs to dumb down his posts for those who accuse him of gloating when soldiers die in Iraq? (N.B., I don't think he makes those posts too often anymore?) Do you think those who were offended by Mikey's posts were not smart enough to get it? I think you're applying a double standard. My point is simply that the head of the Arkansas Republican Party made a terrible political fopah and is paying the price.

"fopah" ?

I think you mean Faux Pas. Anyway, his mistake was only in thinking people would understand what he said, not what he actually said.

His comments were dumb, but they didn't mean what Seymour is attempting to say they meant. That is a crux of our point. If people can't see that, then two things are happening. They are either being disengenuous, or truly can't comprehend english.

Jesus, you're right. That's what I get for trying to use a big word. I was actually thinking of the word "offal" (which more or less means "awful"). Funny how the mind works.

But, that's how politics works. Politicians are attacked and apologize for these kinds of mistakes all the time. The theory, I suppose is, that we believe there's some sort of Freudian truth behind these mistakes, and I suspect there is.
