That's because "The Left" is nothing more than a confederation of innumerable self-serving interests. The only common theme is: "I want mine". Leftist groups band together in very brief moments to fulfill the blood lust to exterminate the status quo, then they go back to fighting and killing themselves like there was no tomorrow. The Russian Revolution is textbook example. The one common point of all hard left regimes is: once in power, they tolerate ZERO dissent, as we witness before our eyes with Hugo Chavez's domination of Venezuela now, Castro in Cuba, the Kim dynasty in North Korea, and so on down the list.

The "Left" is no more democratic than the totalitarian regimes imposed on the people of North Korea, Cuba, the politics of today's China, the old Soviet/ and increasingly today's Russia. The Left fears strong independent, innovative people more than anything else.
