My next door neighbor was involved in all 5 european campaigns, every once and a while I can get him going and he will talk about WWII reluctantly, he tells amazing stories and things I have never read or seen on the wide screen. The guy across the street landed on an Aircraft carrier, he was a ball turret gunner, something like 267 times and spend a week in the drink after getting shot down. Both are amazingly humble and talk of their service as something that was expected and not to be bragged about, they wear it in their heart and not on their sleeve.
