Default Moore's new film praised at Cannes; Bush League unhinged

Bushies are mad and want it censored? then it's definitely a must see...

Healthy praise for Moore's 'Sicko'

CANNES, France (AP) -- "Sicko," Michael Moore's ferocious and funny attack on the U.S. health care system, got a warm welcome at the Cannes Film festival Saturday. At home, it has started a firestorm.

The movie doesn't open until late June, but it has already been criticized by conservative politicians and sparked a U.S. government investigation that could land Moore a fine or jail time.

"I know the storm awaits me back in the United States," said Moore as he absorbed the enthusiastic response of critics and journalists after the film's first Cannes screening. Moore held a private showing Tuesday in New York for a group of ailing Sept. 11 rescue workers featured in the film.

Moore's previous films were praised and reviled in equal measure. Americans will likely be just as divided by "Sicko" -- especially scenes in which Moore takes the sick 9/11 rescuers to Cuba for treatment.

<snip>

The film includes what Moore hopes is an example of generosity of spirit. When the director found out that the Moore-bashing Web site moorewatch.com would have to close because webmaster Jim Kenefick needed money to pay his sick wife's medical bills, he sent an anonymous check for US$12,000.

It even got a positive review on Fox News, this anecdotal comment will lead to those saying that Fox is fair and balanced.

I already said it, Fox does a very simple thing to get the ratings it does and to get millions all over the world to watch Fox, THEY TELL US ALL THE THINGS THE LIBERAL MEDIA LEAVES OUT.

If CBS & Cute Biased Perky Katie did the same thing she and CBS would be more popular than Paris Hilton but they can't bring themselves to tell us the truth or the other side of the story, it KILLS them to say anything good about America while the Hated Bush is the President.

Bush has a lot to be desired but I don't want to see America FAIL in anything just to satisfy those Sore Losing, Jealous, Back Stabbing, Grinning F-cking New Maggot Democrats.

Conversely the liberal media tells us what Fox leaves out, the answer is read both and anything else you can read, so you might come close to some truth.. although that will still be difficult. BTW Fox spent more time on Anna Nicole and Paris than anyone else, or at least equal to the other news outlets..so don't blame the liberal media.

Okay, lets put a little perspective here. Cannes is the premier circle-jerk for elitist movie types. It loves European type films, is bent hard to the left, and positively adores MM already. It also loves that rapist Roman Polanski too, so what's that tell you. The film will no doubt win the Palme d'Or. It might even be a good film. But come on, he's no Spielburg

As for Moore being a Patriot. Ummmm, no. A Patriots is someone that One who loves, supports, and defends one's country (American Heritage). You can argue that he loves his country (debatable), but he shows anything but support and I've NEVER heard him defend it. He certainly would never physically defend it. Just cus you folks wanna fawn all over him, that don't make him a patriot. He's a classic anti-establishment guy.

Lets also keep in mind, his number #1 goal is to make money. He might tell you its raising "social awareness" but lets get real, he's in this for the jack. He's good at it, but like other before him he's little more than a snake oil salesman that knows "controversy is king". He spoon feeds a certain segment of society and they can't get enough of him. The guy is the very definition of hypocrite. At one time not to long ago, he owned stock in Haliburton . He also, as big a anti-gun guy that he is, he NEVER leaves his house without armed (guns) guards. Sure, you may say "well he's famous, he needs protection". BUNK, practice what you preach.

Like I said, he's a decent filmmaker, and surely knows how to dupe many of us out of some coin, but lets not go overboard here. Sicko will make a ton of money, and it may even be good, but I'm not quite gonna join the "MM Messiah" bandwagon yet.

As for the "unhinged" aspect, that clearly stems from the fact that he thumbed his nose at the US embargo with Cuba, which I might add, is still widely supported on both sides of the aslie and almost every single major politician running for president is for the continuation of it. To including Shrillary and the Goricale. I see it for what it was, a PR stunt to lather up you anti-establishment types and get a "controversy" started. Kudos to him, it working like a champ.

Lets face it though, how many of you, if god forbid you get diagnosed with a significant illness, chronic or acute, would consider packing up to Cuba to seek treatment. Our system ain't perfect, but its better than Cuba's

I mean we "conservatives" are always being told to "open our eyes". Well folks, open you eyes and see the guy for what he is. A MONEY MAKING, movie guy that gets paid to entertain you for a few hours. Nothing more, nothing less.

Some call this pandering, does anyone really believe that Fidel and his family suffer because of the emgargo?? Does anyone think that they go without anything? Did Saddam go without anything?? The reality is that in Cuba as well as any other country the embargos primarily effect women, children and the poor. The american multinational companies are just waiting to open up the Cuban markets, and when it does nothing will have significantly changed there. The support for the embargo is something that will go south real quick, when money becomes involved.

Oh, of that there is no doubt. Much bucks to be made there. That wasn't my point. What I'm saying is, the primary reason MM did it, was for PR/controversial reasons.

Health Care in Cuba is actually not bad considering the rest of the economy there. It's bar none, far and away the best in Latin America. It's also leads the way for most other DEVELOPING countries. However its not better then most DEVELOPED nations. Trust me, I have great problems with our health care system in general, so I might be interested in this topic MOVIE-WISE. Ours SHOULD be considerably better than it is. That doesn't equate it to Cuba'ss

My point was............ To take a group of 9/11 workers to CUBA (where there is a long-standing embargo in place) was a deliberate "controversy" move. If he was really interested in compairing, he would have taken a group a 5-25 year olds diagnosed with advanced cancer to Finland, Japan, ect and followed them for 5 years. But that wouldn't be very exciting now, would it?

The liberal left wing mindset boggles my mind, they claim to be kind, caring, compassionate, diversified, saviours of the down trodden and champions of people being screwed by insurance compnay's.

With all these wonderful humane caring qualities why in the name of God do they have this ungodly
f-cking love affair with a piece of murdering communist ***** like Fidel Castro

Phuck Michael Moore. He's always going out of the country to spread anti-American sentaments. Though he mixes just enough fact to seem credible, he puts to many things out of context and outright ignores other things to fulfill his pre-determined outcomes. He is about the last person I would use as as example of an American patriot.
