I think an increased excise tax on them is a good idea, though double sounds a bit high.
And I like all the other things in the article that Brookline has done, such as banning leaf blowers. I wish Cambridge would do that.
By the way, Harry, I saw something I never saw before: a funny right-wing bumpersticker. It said "Footprint of a chicken," and next to the text was an image of a peace sign.

I think people are certifiable loons. SUV's are now evil. Sure, a RAV4, or a Lexus RX330 Hybrid is evil dammit! So much more evil than say a Mercedez S500? How about an antique car like an '86 Jaguar, or any old beater from the 70's or 80's? Pick-up trucks? What amazes me about people is their simplistic stupidity. A car is bad for the environment because....... it's big? What maroons! This is classic retard legislation. Of course, since 30-40% of the public consists of retards, it has a wonderful chance of passing.

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him."
