One can't deny that LBJ blew it with Vietnam. Comparing Bush to LBJ is unfair however, LBJ Didn't have the experience of Vietnam to guide his decision making. Bush did.

20 times more American soldiers died in Vietnam (thank you JFK and LBJ) but if you believe the American liberal, Iraq is the all time greatest debacle in the history of our Republic. Yeah. Right. Sure.

We were in Vietnam for a longer period....with over 500,000 boots on the ground at once. Today's technologies provide standoff engagements better than those of the 60's. What is so incredibly stupid is the administrations insistence on putting soldiers on street corners as stationary targets for the jerkoffs. In fact the casualty rates currently seen in Iraq are extremely troubling to those agencies reponsible for medical and post-injury rehabilitation. The death toll is bad...the injury rates sustained are horrendous.

I am even more cynical regarding Georges motives for the "Surge"
He is simply insuring that this mess continues beyond his Presidency to force the newly elected Democrats to deal with the withdrawal. He and his advisers already know this turkey is cooked. Our men and women bleed for political expediancy. Nothing more.

This in keeping with his complete lack of genuine concern or compassion for those who give their lives every day for his failures. He is criminally responsible.

ZERO. the point was supposed to be to go after the nations who harbor terrorists. hmmm. Saudi Arabia? No, we cant go in there, too many friends in the oil business. Iran or N. Korea, no, they are are too much of a real threat, it might make them mad. Afganistan? well, of course, we'll do that first and then not finish the job.
Iraq? well, we can sell that, Saddam is a bad guy, he threatened my Dad, and there are oil interests that will help the family.
we'll tell people its just like the Gulf War, in and out, then move on to Iran or something.

back in 2003 thats what americans thought it would be. Another Gulf War. Blast the heck out of Baghdad, maybe get Saddam in the process, then move on to the next threat.

NOBODY expected it was about spreading democracy or any of that garbage. And nobody expected it to last 4 years ( and counting) and over 3,000 American troops lives ( and counting).

the moment we sent in ground troops in numbers too low to make sense, and got into marching into Baghdad, it was clear this was a fiasco from the start and not about what we were told it was about.

this isnt a conservative vs liberal issue. its not a Christianity vs secular issue.

this is about incompetance at best and murderous deception at worst.

and this is coming from an Evangelical Christian who knows plenty others who feel the same way. I met another Evangelical in South Carolina one day who took me through the history of that region, prophesy and the Book of Revelation. He said to me 2 years what I knew deep inside but needed to hear in Biblical terms. The Iraqis and the Arab Nations hate us. they will always hate us. They will never become a democracy. Nowhere in Scripture does it ever say or imply that a big superpower comes in democratizes the region. So OBVIOUSLY, Bush, Cheney and the Neo-Cons are NOT basing this war on their "Christianity". that was a cynical ploy to gain support from the conservative base.

George Bush is not a "peacemaker". His White House refers to the "Evangelicals" as "The Nuts".

this war was wrong from the start, and in the long run will cause MUCH more harm than Vietnam ever did due to the way we went in there and the lasting effects of our blunder.

If Bush admits this, as it was basically all he did during his Presidency, he goes down as the worst President in history. So he never will do so.

and thousands more will die.

If George Bush is sending American boys to die in Iraq for his legacy, what then is the difference between George Bush and Seung-Hui Cho?
