Default Qaeda group says Iraq a "university of terror"

Not only do we take out Iran's biggest enemy, we give the terrorists a cause celebre and we give them a terrific training ground, with American soldiers as target practice. We've also shown the world that we're not as powerful as we once thought. That said, I hope this terrorist is exaggerating.

DUBAI (Reuters) - The head of an al Qaeda-led group in Iraq said the country has become a "university of terrorism" producing highly qualified warriors since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

In an audio recording posted on the Internet on Tuesday, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the self-styled Islamic State in Iraq, said his fighters were successfully confronting U.S. forces in Iraq and have begun producing a guided missile called al-Quds 1 or Jerusalem 1.

"The largest batch of soldiers for jihad ... in the history of Iraq are graduating and they have the highest level of competence in the world," Baghdadi said.

...

"From the military point of view, one of the (enemy) devils was right in saying that if Afghanistan was a school of terror, then Iraq is a university of terrorism," said the leader of the group set up last year by al Qaeda's Iraq wing and some other Sunni groups.

Wait, I thought that Iraq had nothing to do with terrorists. Ask Nancy that what she says.

There should be huge posters of George W. Bush on every building in Tehran. He's the greatest Persian leader since King Cyrus.

I'm shocked and awed at how a President with such an ignorance of the outside world can so screw up our nation's future.

Ah, FTW,

The reason to go into Iraq in the FIRST place had nothing to do with Al Qaeda.

Like John Hannah, George Bush cleared a path for them to see daylight there.

That statement would be funny if it wasn't so true. I think that was the original meaning of "shock and awe," we just didn't get it at the time.

I'm sure Al-Qeada would come out and say "crap, we're getting our arses handed to us here in Iraq", or maybe would say something like "since 9/11 we haven't been able to hit the US because they've destroyed our capability to". I'm not saying that either is necessarily the case, but AQ wouldn't come out and tell us they are suffering now would they? Whether you support the war in Iraq or not, you cannot deny that AQ has been forced to concentrate their effort and resources on us there. In doing so, they are thus fighting our soldiers, and not our civilians. There is undeniable truth to that. This does, by no means, justify the war there. It's simply part of the equation. Anyone, prior to the war in Iraq, or Afghanistan, who didn't think that radicals would join the cause in either theatre, was very ignorant to reality. Afghanistan alone was a tool of recruitment for Al-Queda.

Huh? It would be best for us if AQ could only concentrate to fight us in AFGHANISTAN.

Not Afghanistan AND Iraq.

Spreading the fight against AQ to Iraq ALSO is not a "strategic victory".

THAT is the reality.

Bush has cleared a path for the AQ opening in Iraq that would make John Hannah proud.

......and he hasn't done a bad job for Iran either. Now there's a country with economic problems that we could have exploited easily (before we saved them with our Iraq invasion) and brought them into their own civil war without us breaking a fingernail.

I'm not saying that Iraq was a great decision. Personally, I'd prefer we weren't there. I'm merely pointing out that AQ saying Iraq is a boon for them might not be the case.
