watched this Dixie Chicks movie last night, surprising very good, not a country music fan.. but found it quite interesting how those words, "I am ashamed that George Bush is from Texas", could create such a firestorm. The impact of this and subsequent hysteria, primarily from the Bill O'Reilly's and Hannity's of the world would lead to death threats. Interesting story on America and the reaction that can be created by comments made.

The Dixie Chicks shot themsleves in the foot, they were country artists, and they pissed off their own constituancy. Most country radio stations down here still do not play their music. Hannity and O'Reilly had little or nothing to do with it.

They are in the K.D. Lang boat now, having to move to Pop music to make some money.

Funny how people always talk about how much they hate pandering politicians.

The same people who still hate the Dixie Chicks for speaking their minds also still hate Bill Clinton for always 'sticking his finger in the wind.'

Not a big country music fan...just a good music fan. What did KD Lang say publicly to tick off her fans? I think her music is great and I wasn't aware that it was "country". She's got it all covered from what I can hear. Just a great voice. What did she say?

Guess you did not see the movie, O'Reilly & Hannity had everything to do with these inocuous comments. They fanned the flames and kept something minor going into something major.

Did you know there were death threats when they sang in Dallas?? This is a story of something that went very wrong with this country.. not going into the 1st amendment thing, but those words created a storm of controversy and the right wing media went into a feeding frenzy.

She came out of the closet, which is her perogative, but if I was her agent, I would have never allowed it. She was a much bigger star in country than she is now.

They made this movie themselves, do you really think they were going to put the blame on themselves.

They have a right to free speech, but the consumers have the right to them them to **** themselves. Which they did, liberals can give them any award they want, but the fact is they had to cancel concerts because of ticket sales.

I imagine that pig Natalie knows KD ang quite well.

I'm ashmed of the President of the US, in another country, while we are at War is inocuous? I guess it was innocuos to go the North Vietnam and sit on top of anti aircraft guns too.

Country fans are mostly conservative, this was not the first time that Maines opened her yap, she shot herslef in the foot, and costs them millions of dollars.
