More for the global warming naysayers (ostriches):

Scientists Predict Huge Southwest Drought

By RANDOLPH E. SCHMID
AP
WASHINGTON (April 6) - Changing climate will mean increasing drought in the Southwest - a region where water already is in tight supply - according to a new study.

"The bottom line message for the average person and also for the states and federal government is that they'd better start planning for a Southwest region in which the water resources are increasingly stretched," said Richard Seager of Columbia University's Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory.

Actually this is speculation based on computer models not based on observation and historical data.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

And even if there is warming there is no "evidence" about the cause.

I bet this data is based on a favorite little trick of these types of researchers... Remember that report last summer that said the oceans would run out of fish by 2050..? This is what those researches did (and I suspect these drought researchers did a similar thing)...

Suppose you have the following data on the population of fish in the oceans (units of 1,000,000,000)...

1995:100
1996:105
1997:103
1998:98
1999:95
2000:99
2001:103
2002:101
2003:104
2004:102
2005:100

A researcher can take those data and conclude "Oh no..!! The entire fish population will be extinct within 50 years..!!" because all they've done is isolated the current trend and projected it forward - which is horribly faulty science.
