In an ironic and perverse sense, I pity the poor guy.

Like Scooter, Alberto is a victim of the Bush/Cheney/Rove machination.

I thought the law was you have to lie to Congress 6 times before they could deport you... Maybe he can play a flute while being deported, and take the 30 million illegals with him...

Oh wait, what am I saying..? As long as there are liberals here willing to give illegals the hard earned money of honest Americans, they won't ever be leaving.

Gotta disagree. Gonzalez is victim of the vindictive small minds who cannot get over the fact that middle America preferred Geo Bush to the elitist-preferred Dem candidates, Gore and Kerry. The press celebrities (Dan Rather, Katie Couric, Larry King, and company) and the back-room news string-pullers are the cause of all the manufactured hoopla about the Bush administration, including this tempest in a teapot over the AG. And one would be wise to realize that middle America knows this now.

Real, 90% (at least) of the illegals already here are never going to be tracked down and returned to south of the border. Never going to happen. How much would it cost to do that?? Many billions. And it would largely be both futile or so repressive it would cause a huge conflict, possibly even worst case scenario, an internal armed conflict between Hispanics and non-Hisp. Very bad outcome.

Bush is making the best of the situation. Make illegals legal while simultaneously creating much better border security to slow down the flow. Really the best option we have.

This is a problem the U.S. has ignored for a long time. We should have started working with our southern neighbors a hundred years ago, or more. We didn't do much, and now they are coming for what we didn't help them to have in their home countries: a much higher standard of living. Nature will take its course, one way or another.
