Dole, Shalala To Head Hospital Commission
It's rare that I praise Bush for something, but I think appointing Shalala and Dole is brilliant. Shalala was a very effective Sec'y of Human Services, and Dole's heroism and support for the last major civil rights legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act, makes me believe he won't be a politician on this issue.

(CBS/AP) President Bush will name former Clinton cabinet member Donna Shalala and former Senate GOP leader Bob Dole to head a presidential commission on military hospitals, CBS News has confirmed.
The move comes in response to the scandal over substandard conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington.
Mr. Bush was expected to make the announcement later Tuesday during a speech to the American Legion.
CBS News White House correspondent Peter Maer reports Mr. Bush will sign an executive order for the commission to conduct a "comprehensive review" of the hospital situation.
