It's like Deval Patrick talking about fiscal responsibility and raising taxes because of a budget defeicit, and then going out and leasing a $1,166 a month Caddy.

I'm astonished that people in here can't see the irony in posting on a screen for the meager pedestrians to take public transit so as to save the planet, while these jokers all showed up in private planes. How is that not a valid position? Anyone that tries to deflect the fact that Al Gore uses 20 times the energy of he average citizen, or that these jokers say take the T and use private jets is clearly biased. Call a spade a spade.

Algore do as I say not as I do.
It is hilarious to watch the lefties rationalize the behavior of their Enviromental guru.

actually, tool, it is indeed hilarious... no wait, ultimately it's pathetic and sad... to watch righties just play the partisan contrarian role based on whatever Fox or Drudge tells them to ...
so Al Gore, a wealthy man who takes DRASTIC steps to reduce his carbon footprint, uses 20 times the kilowatts that the average household does... wow... he's also doing perhaps 10,000 times the work getting the message out that our gluttonous society has to wake up than does the average American... heck, maybe 100,000x more... what are YOU doing, if anything?
it's interesting watching staunch Con men throw the word hypocrite around as they scoff at the mere mention of global catastrophe. ... they believe they're "closer to God" anyway, right?... this is all part of Rapture, and the cleansing of the planet, perhaps?
say, how many of Bush's inner circle have seen combat? if George promised to fire anyone merely involved in the leak of a CIA officer, when does that begin? say, if we're bringing these terrorist killers to justice by any and all means necessary, and if "we will make no distinction between these terrorist killers and those who harbor them," why has Pakistan gotten the proverbial reach around the past 5 years? yeah, let's talk about hypocrisy for a bit... those are just the tip of the iceberg... i can touch on dozens more, and you can sit in your own mess and chirp over Al Gore's kilowatt usage like an autistic without reason...
the saddest thing about excuse-making, gluttonous, all-hail-capitalism-and-hegemony Con man thought is that they're passing it on to their young... what a sad, sad time of denial and ignorance we live in... how will we ever explain it to our grandchildren...?

During the Melissa Etheridge live performance of her song from "An Inconvenient Truth" there was a screen behind her that projected all sorts of touchy-feely phrases and suggestions... the one that stuck out the most to me was the one calling on us to use public transportation... which I found to be perhaps the most hypocritical of all those "suggestions"....

On a side note, I find it tough to get all up in arms when scandal hits someone I've never even heard of... I mean, the only reason anyone's heard of Haggard is because of his recent scandal... so the guy is a low life and a hypocrite - is that supposed to hurt my feelings when the loony libbies call some guy I've never heard of out for being a liar and a hypocrite...?

Re: Interesting article on Algore the Hypocrite
Gore isn't calling for socialism, he's calling for greater responsibility in the way we use energy. He's made his big house fairly green, using fluorescent bulbs, installing solar panels, and using a green power company (that creates at least some electricity through nondestructive means).
As Gore's spokesperson said, these kind of charges are the last gasps of the the global warming skeptics, who fewer and fewer people take seriously.
Calling out Gore with this kind of nonsense would be like calling on one of our warmongering members of the religious right to turn the other cheek.

It is what it is, Al Gore, no matter how it is justified got caught with his proverbial pants down. He can say whatever he wants, but is not walking the walk. Talk about his "carbon footprint" is a bunch of mumbo jumbo, that is not within the realm of most folks. He amongst, many others, are poster childs for excess..

I don't agree. This is the same old right wing argument that they use when they point to Ted Kennedy's wealth as proof of his liberal hypocrisy. Gore has taken measures to make his home more green, but he's rich and owns a big home. I'm all for a progressive income tax to make the wealthy pay their fair share and also support luxury taxes, but those are different issues. For now, we should each do what we can within our economic framework to support the environment. These attacks on Gore are just the last desperate attacks by the money-grubbing right-wing.
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/02/16/hannity-gore/
"Gore lives a strict carbon-neutral lifestyle both in his work and private life. That means he tries to reduce his emissions as much as possible, and then purchases carbon offsets for the remaining emissions. In his private life, Gore tries to reduce his emissions as much as possible. He drives a hybrid, flies commercially whenever he can, and purchases green power. In the few instances where work has demanded that he travel privately, he purchases carbon offsets for the emissions."

I thought this was about Merle Haggard, the country singer. You know those performance artists, always doing something outrageous!
Speaking of which, does anyone know the politics of that guy, the R & B star, R. Kelly, the one who's been caught numerous times with 13-year old girls?? Or how about that actor, Alec Baldwin, who left his former live-in girl friend, Kim Bassinger, with two blue eyes before throwing her under the bus? Wonder what his politics are? Hm-m...
Oh, sorry, I'm "deflecting" again.
