U.S.: Iraq chlorine bomb factory was al-Qaida’s
Updated: 8:49 a.m. ET Feb 24, 2007
BAGHDAD - Al-Qaida militants in Iraq were preparing to make crude chemical weapons using chlorine at a car bomb factory discovered west of Baghdad this week, the U.S. military said on Saturday.
The military said the facility in Karma, east of Fallujah, had ties to recent attacks in which chlorine was used to transform explosives into makeshift chemical weapons that released suffocating gas and sickened dozens of people.
Lieutenant Colonel Valery Keaveny told reporters by video conference from the western province of Anbar that U.S. forces had found al-Qaida propaganda leaflets and “interactive DVDs” at the factory, which was raided on Tuesday.

“This is absolutely a display that al-Qaida is trying to adjust its barbaric tactics. Is this a threat? Yes. Are we prepared to deal with it? Yes,” Keaveny said.

Another on a recent attack:

Fuel tanker bomb kills 40 in western Iraq
(Reuters)
24 February 2007
BAGHDAD - A fuel tanker rigged with explosives killed 40 people when it blew up near a Sunni mosque in western Iraq on Saturday, a day after the mosque’s imam had criticised Al Qaeda militants, police and residents said.
The bomb exploded in a market in the town of Habaniya in the restive province of Anbar, where US forces are battling Sunni Arab insurgent groups, including Al Qaeda.
.....
Residents said the imam of the mosque in Habaniya had criticised Sunni Al Qaeda during Friday prayers.
Some Sunni tribal leaders in Anbar are leading a campaign to fight Al Qaeda, which is deeply entrenched in the province. But the attack signals an escalation of the power struggle in an area where US troop reinforcements are soon to be deployed.

The interesting part is that Al Queda is now attacking Sunni's in Iraq. This will not be received well in the Arab world. Perhaps things aren't going as well for Al Queda as the dems and media would have us believe. This sort of violence towards their co religionists smacks of desperation.

"How does (Miami-Ohio offensive lineman Brandon) Brooks not get invited to the combine? How did Vollmer not get invited to the combine? I don't know. We can't really worry about that. We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."
