Default Political fight over internet becomes physical

Quote:
A Fredericksburg man was arrested Saturday on charges he assaulted three strangers at their home during a dispute over politics, police said.

According to a Fredericksburg police report, the suspect went to a home in the 900 block of Marye Street about 5:30 p.m. after finding one of the resident's name on a Republican Web site.

The resident and his two roommates engaged in a discussion with the suspect, though none of them had ever met or had contact with him before.
all I can say, is wow, unbelievable. That's just unacceptable behavior, no matter what your political leanings may be. Political discussion over the internet may sometimes get heated, but should always be in good taste (after all, you are representing fellow people who hold to your beliefs).

The internet is deceptive: it looks like it's surreal, in one sense, with just words on a screen. But behind each word is a human being, someone who has often invested a lot in what they have put on the screen. Not seeing or knowing the other people involved in these discussions can be very misleading; it may seem as if no one is really there, but, in fact, the opposite is true: there *is* another person there, someone with feelings, just like anybody has.

It helps to think how one's words will affect the others.
