This film was a spin off from a hugely popular Turkish TV series, and went on to be one of the biggest grossing films in all Turkish cinema history. It has also enjoyed great popularity in Europe and the Middle East. It was due for a limited American release in December 2006, but was quietly dropped at the last minute after a letter from the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai Br'ith to the film's US distributors objected to "the incendiary anti-Jewish and anti-American themes and characters in the film."

It's stupid that we criticize countries like China for movie censorship when we hypocritically do the exact same thing over here.

The government didn't censor the movie, companies made a voluntary decision not to show it. I disagree with them, but they have the right to show or not show whatever they want.

Nick's actually done some decent films: Lorenzo's Oil, his buddy movies with Eddie Murphy, etc.

He does have drinking/drug problem, it seems. As do many in the entertainment industry. Sad. Tragic.
