There's no arguing that any extremist can be dangerous on some level or another. It's just a matter of what that level is.
Rid the world of extremists.
"If you didn't know better, you'd think the Jets sent Bill Belichick north
to destroy the Patriots from within. (When) they could have had
impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson or the second-best tackle in
the draft in Kenyatta Walker, they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard
Seymour, (who is) too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end." - Xerox Borges, April 2001

The first church I went to was Southern Baptist. I heard a lot of that stuff too. But my commitment to Christ was stronger than my commitment to any church so I looked for another church. Problem solved.
I go to a strong bible-based, non-denominational church that makes it focus Jesus Christ, not politics. They are out there if you take the time to look for them.
Your church sounds ideal. If I were to go to church, that would be the type I would go to.
I guess what it comes down to for me is that I really don't feel like I need to go through the motions of going to church. I had a strong religious background as a child. I've read the bible several times. I fully comprehend its meaning. I don't feel as though I need a pastor (middle man) interpreting (and often mis-interpreting) it for me.
I'm not saying church is bad. I think the social aspect of church has its place for those that desire it. I simply believe folks can be healthy spiritually w/o attending church.
