No one is defending Iran. What people are doing is criticizing the arms trade and the militaristic approach to foreign affairs. Iran is playing the same stupid game we are -- they are doing harm and creating trouble. But, we can't realistically expect Iran to act towards the situation in Iraq better than we are acting. We can demand it, but we certainly don't occupy the moral high ground when it comes to Iraq. We created the conditions that have enabled the right-wing in Iran to get into power and have created a power vacuum in Iraq that the Iranians would like to fill as much as we would.
