Default Biden: Open mouth, Insert foot...or...refreshing honesty?

Dang, this is one darn good article. I don't know much about Biden, I've always felt he was a little bit reckless in some interviews, but in reading this interview, his blunt honesty is incredibley refreshing. It's nice to see a politician speak like some of us would. Any chance we can get him to post in the forum?

http://www.observer.com/20070205/200...ewsstory1.html

To hear him tell it, Hillary Clinton’s position is calibrated, confusing and “a very bad idea.” John Edwards doesn’t know what he’s talking about and is pushing a recipe for Armageddon in the Middle East. Barack Obama is offering charming but insubstantial fluff. And all of them are playing politics.

“From the part of Hillary’s proposal, the part that really baffles me is, ‘We’re going to teach the Iraqis a lesson.’ We’re not going to equip them? O.K. Cap our troops and withdraw support from the Iraqis? That’s a real good idea.”
The result of Mrs. Clinton’s position on Iraq, Mr. Biden says, would be “nothing but disaster.”

Mr. Biden is equally skeptical—albeit in a slightly more backhanded way—about Mr. Obama. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

But—and the “but” was clearly inevitable—he doubts whether American voters are going to elect “a one-term, a guy who has served for four years in the Senate,” and added: “I don’t recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic.”

OUCH:

“I don’t think John Edwards knows what the heck he is talking about,” Mr. Biden said, when asked about Mr. Edwards’ advocacy of the immediate withdrawal of about 40,000 American troops from Iraq.

“John Edwards wants you and all the Democrats to think, ‘I want us out of there,’ but when you come back and you say, ‘O.K., John’”—here, the word “John” became an accusatory, mocking refrain—“‘what about the chaos that will ensue? Do we have any interest, John, left in the region?’ Well, John will have to answer yes or no. If he says yes, what are they? What are those interests, John? How do you protect those interests, John, if you are completely withdrawn? Are you withdrawn from the region, John? Are you withdrawn from Iraq, John? In what period? So all this stuff is like so much Fluffernutter out there. So for me, what I think you have to do is have a strategic notion. And they may have it—they are just smart enough not to enunciate it.”

He sounds like he's planning a run of his own for the democratic nomination in 2008.

He's filed the paperwork the article said. I'm curious to know where he is on most issues. I don't like his plan for Iraq, splitting it into 3 countries, but then again what's there to like about anything Iraq? I do appreciate his honest opinions though.

Makes sense... I didn't read the article you provided but I had read his comments on another media outlet so I knew what you were talking about... I figured the only reason he would alienate all 3 of his party's leading contenders would be if he was planning on opposing them instead of just trying to curry favor with whatever individual he felt would win the nomination.

Biden is a closet racist. He made relatively recent remarks in his home state about how you couldn't go to a convenience store without seeing an Indian clerk, or something like that.

Next election he needs to be booted out just like George Allen for his mistakes.

I really don't know too much about him. I do remember something about him saying something in the press. It was near when Rangel said something about Missisippi or something I think. I'll look i up, now I'm curious.

Why Is Telling It Like It Is "Racist", should we make believe the clerk is a Norwegian or maybe an Eskimo?

I personally think Biden is a first class a$s hole and he has about as much of a chance of being President as John Fonda Kerry does but there are times when even a$s holes "make sense".

If the majority of big city Convienent Stores have "Indian Clerks" what the f-ck is wrong with saying they have "Indian Clerks"?

Liberals see nothing wrong with KKK Byrd calling someone a "White N!gger" and that is TRULY RACIST.
