Let's first deal with the monster in the White House, who has caused the deaths of thousands by launching a war based on lies, ignorance, and misinformation. His crimes are far worse than Jane Fonda's. Or let's deal with Ollie North, who was convicted of crimes, but with the ACLU his conviction was overturned (because some of the evidence used to convict him was subject to immunity given him by the Congress). Damn that ACLU!
That two-week trip in 1972 included a government-staged news conference with American POWs and a radio broadcast in which she declared the United States "will never be able to break the spirit of these people." Outraged, many Americans accused her of treason, and some fellow anti war activists said Fonda went too far.
What a scumbag POS.

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." Leo Tolstoy, 1897
Fonda was part of the anti-war movement that ultimately saved thousands of American lives. Granted, we lost 60,000 troops before the anti-war people became strong enough to force Johnston to resign and Nixon to end the war, but still those brave people like Fonda, despite their mistakes, did far more harm than good. There are many people who can thank the likes of Fonda for saving them from death in Vietnam.

Yeah, brave people like Fonda. She's a dirt bag and a scum sucker, and if she crossed my path I'd let her know that. Wanna protest the war? Hold a sign, or march on washington. Don't go hold hands with the enemy and piss on our prisoners of war. What a douchbag POS.

A lot of stuff has happened in the past 34 years, times have changed, but no one forgives or forgets. It all seems so situational.
OTOH our prez, VP and Chief of Staff all avoided active combat during that war, it is amazing how intolerant we are towards Fonda, and how forgiving we are to the White House Trio who lied their way into a war and cost us at least 3,000 deaths.

Did Slick Willy serve his country? He had no problems sending kids into Somalia and Kosovo. I really don't see how Jane Fonda being a complete douchebag POS has anything to do with GW & Co. Unless of course your position is that they are both scumbag POS's.

Real World, to battle an entrenched power is not easy. You don't have the law on your side. You don't have the military, police, and courts on your side. You don't have automatic access to the media, etc. Sometimes, in order to get attention, a popular cause must do something unpopular. For instance, when AIDS was being ignored, one of the radical gay groups marched with pornographic placards in order to get attention. While I didn't really approve of their actions, I could understand it. If you don't get the media to pick up the story, then you don't help your cause. It's a dilemma for every group that wants to achieve change against the will of an entrenched power. By going to Hanoi, Jane Fonda drew tremendous attention to the anti-war issue. It wasn't all good attention, but as they say, any publicity is good. I went to an anti-war march in NYC a couple years ago. There were over 500,000 people present, and it was dignified and peaceful march. It got almost no publicity.
Fonda:
I saw this bag in action in Harvard Sq, she was disgusting, America's enemys all around the world and right here in America Love Her.
We stood on a roof and threw Spare Rib Bones at her when she rode by, you could smell her friends all the way up from the street as they walked alongside of her car, they hadn't had a bath in months, she was giving the police and firefighters the finger, she knew they couldn't react, she said at this gathering of
f-cking rat bastards, "if you really knew what communism is you would embrace it with all of your heart".
Today she is a worn out dried up old hag that still hates the country that allows her to hate it, they would have killed her long ago in one of her beloved communist country's.
The "C" word that even I don't like was invented for Jane Fonda.

WTF does any of that have to do with Jane Fonda being a scumbag, POS douche?
