Real World

Here is a rather lengthly, but rather interesting poll conducted by Gallup. It's like 4 pages long. Very interesting though.

PRINCETON, NJ -- A recent Gallup Poll finds that just 35% of Americans are satisfied with the way things are going in the United States today. This low level of expressed satisfaction masks the fact that Americans are highly satisfied with some specific aspects of Americans life while at the same time highly dissatisfied with others.

This shows how utterly useless polls are and how utterly thoughtless and afflicted with ADD the American public is.
First of all, Most Americans would be insane to not appreciate the quality of life compared to the rest of the world. I could understand a single mother of four living in the projects hooked on heroin might not like life, but....
Also, the next three are opposite the last three result wise, but they are actually the same questions.
The "size and power of government" and "how our system of government works" had opposite results. "The influence of organized religion" and "the moral and ethical climate" also had opposite reactions. Who doesn't see the connection between the potential to "get ahead by hard work" and "the size and influence of corporations"?

Sheep being led to slaughter. Could be worse, could be living in Afghanistan.

Real World

Wistah, it's why I always tell people to take polls for what they are worth. They can be somewhat valuable in trying to guage a vague sentiment of the public, but too many people see a poll and feel it's gospel.
