and by the way, my idea of a political forum is to talk about politics.... not preach wacko elitist religious condemnation, which you've done without a doubt... you're not denying it, so it's obvious to everyone you can't debate politics, you need to bring God into the mix constantly... unfortunately, this country was founded on the seperation of church and state...

who's more American again? oh, that's right... not you....

America was *founded* by some 89 people who arrived in a November to the cold and harsh winter winds of the south shore, Plimouth, to be exact.

They, and all who followed for the next 150+ years, all came with a sincere reverence for God. They came in search of a place to live and worship WITHOUT corrupt kingdoms and sinful governments hounding them into death and marginalization.

The cities and towns of America bear witness to the founders' image of America: Providence, Canaan, Bethlehem, Salem, Provincetown, Nazareth, Bethel, Shiloh, Mt. Hermon, Hebron, Tabor, Jericho, and on and on. Open any Bible to a map of old Israel and just about every city and town is found in America. Indeed, America is the Second Israel, and Christianity is the New Judaism.

You and others may have problems with what fallen imperfect men have done to religion, but that is not God's fault; it is ours, yours and mine. Throwing out God, or dismissing everyone who tries to seek out God's will for the nation, is just plain stupid, ignorant, and ultimately suicidal. Not only for the perpetrator, but for the whole nation. Thus, the tenacity of those who feel that their search for God is being impeded by ignorant intolerant thugs.

The tenacity of those who founded America. You need to go back to the roots to see what de Tocqueville saw: "America is great because she is good; if she ever stops being good she will cease to be great."

I never said W was the paragon we have been searching for, but surely dismissing him as a "religious nut" is itself an intolerant anti-religious rant. Has no place in the America of the *founders*.

thanks for the history lesson... unfortunately for your argument, you're not denying the irrefutable FACT that this country was founded upon the seperation of church and state... and done so for a distinct reason.... a reason embodied by your rather dangerous rhetoric here in this forum... thankfully, those D of I guys 220 years ago had cooler heads...

A former adviser to VP Dick Cheney told the perjury trial of his ex-aide “Scooter” Libby that Cheney was so obsessed with Iraq war critic Joseph Wilson in July 2003 that he demanded his staff monitor all print and TV reports on the former ambassador and e-mail TV transcripts to the VP's assistant. The testimony was a blow to Libby's defense claim that he was too busy to focus on attacking Wilson and had thus simply forgotten to tell the FBI and a grand jury that he leaked to reporters the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame, Wilson's wife.

Separation, yes. The *government* shall make NO LAWS regarding the establishment of religion. IOW, the government stays out of religion. No one can force me or you or anyone to believe one way or another. EVERY confession of faith and belief is up to the individual. Nothing can be forced. I'm good with that; are you?

The fact that the founders were profoundly religious is fine to know, imo, but again if you or anyone else chooses to downplay it, it's your life. Of course, we do have a problem if YOUR or anyone's beliefs trend into behaviors that are destructive. Beliefs are one thing, actions are much more quantifiable.

Then, finally there is the issue of motivation behind the behavior. That is the ultimate test. If one does something considered "good" but does it for evil purpose, then there's a contradiction, and contradictions don't sit well in the grand scheme of life. Contradictions lead to collapse and implosion, not what life is supposed to be, again imo. I don't like good things to collapse. I'm sure you don't, either.

Day 4

Libby wants details about colleague’s immunity gambit

By Associated Press
Friday, January 26, 2007 - Updated: 01:40 PM EST

WASHINGTON - Attorneys for former vice presidential aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby want more information about an unusual immunity-from-prosecution deal that government lawyers gave former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer in the CIA leak case.

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald says that in early 2004, as his investigation was heating up into who revealed CIA operative Valerie Plame’s name to reporters, Fleischer stepped forward with an offer to prosecutors: Promise no prosecution and he would help their case.

Fleischer acknowledged being one of the leakers, but he wouldn’t say a word without a promise of immunity.

Let's review week one, shall we?

Day 1: Fitzgerald details charges, shows Cheney was highly involved ...

Day 2: Libby says "i'm not going down for Karl Rove" and "I forgot"

Day 3: Cheney underling says she's one of 5 people who told Libby about Plame days before he talked to any reporters

Day 4: Libby wants more info on Fleischer immunity deal that will ruin him ...

wow... so far, unless Wells pulls a rabbit out of his hat, or the trial is fixed, it's not looking good for Scoot Scoot... and, better, it's looking really bad for the Dark Lord and Karl Rove... let the investigations begin!!!!

As I said, you seem to enjoy people's suffering too much.

the only thing saving Cheney's little "Smithers" is a high-level powerplay, just the same as what saved Rove from indictment... regardless, the outcome of the trial as it involves Libby's fate is mere window dressing...

what is important is the truth revealed about your devious vice president and his henchmen... and the likelihood of new investigations into pre-war fraud...
